According to E-Sports website FOMOS.kr, StarCraft II’s more offensive content, including blood, foul language and depiction of drug use (smoking in this case) will be censored and removed when it releases in South Korea later this year, all in an effort to receive a favourable (‘Age 12’) age rating.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is reportedly being recalled from the shelves of retailers in Russia due to the game’s controversial content, including the in-game massacre of hundreds of Russian citizens in an airport, which acts as a catalyst for a Russian-lead invasion of the United States and all-out war between the two nations.

There is also a strong objection by Russian gamers to the depiction of Russians as terrorists and antagonists in the game, despite similar depictions of members from other nations and cultures in games (and other entertainment media) in the past.

The PC version of Modern Warfare 2 has already received a patch to remove the offending airport mission, while an edited, censored console version is expected to be re-released within the next month, pending the approval of the Russian government.
