Capcom’s upcoming real-time multiplayer strategy game Age of Booty has been priced at $10.

In a post on Capcom’s Unity Blog, Daryl revealed that after checking out the final version of the game two of his friends said they would buy it for $10 while one said he would fork out as much as $20. The lucky friends only got to see the multiplayer game play over LAN, so the single player mode, map editor and match ranking system are still under wraps.

Although we don’t know an exact release date yet, Capcom recently announced that Microsoft is taking a look at the build for Xbox Live Arcade and that Sony would soon get their hands on the PlayStation Network version. According to a comment by Daryl on the blog, the game is expected to arrive in early October.

Daryl promised more information on the demo soon but he did confirm that the XBLA and PSN trials will be available on release day.

Capcom has confirmed that there will be no cross platform play in Resident Evil 5.

A post on the Capcom-Unity blog states “No cross platform play with RE5. You’d have to convince both Sony and MS to make their servers place nice with each other…Which, unfortunately, may never happen.”

The remake of the original 2D action-platforming classic on the NES, Bionic Commando: Rearmed has finally made its way to PAL territories via the PlayStation Network. It’s available now for £6.99.

The ‘hook’ of this particular game is the ability to use your grappling arm to reach different areas, as well as using it during combat and to solve puzzles, all while shooting up baddies and bosses. To celebrate the release, an awesome trailer has been unleashed unto the world to show off the explosive, action-packed nature of the game. Recommended watching.

While Bionic Commando: Rearmed has just recently seen a release on PC, Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network in the US, the other, fully 3D Bionic Commando game is still in development.

A new trailer released for Bionic Commando, also coming to PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, shows footage from the original Capcom classic, changes to game play from the new Bionic Commando: Rearmed and then does a stylish transition to some fully 3D action from Bionic Commando. Confused? Watch the trailer to become ‘not-confused.’

Last week in the comments section of SCEA’s PlayStation Blog, Capcom’s John Diamonon revealed that a Street Fighter surprise would be unveiled yesterday and available on Thursday.

True to their word Capcom’s Senior Product Marketing Manager on SFIV, known as Gerald, yesterday announced on Capcom’s Blog that Street Fighter Alpha would be available as a new PSone Classics game for download on the PlayStation Network this Thursday.

The reaction to the announcement has been mixed, with some gamers lapping up new content but most bitterly disappointed that the surprise did not relate to Street Fighter IV. Many SF fans seem to have anticipated that the surprise in store related to Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, or more particularly the beta for the game that is only available to Xbox 360 owners.

PS3 fans have been left in the cold following Capcom’s decision to make the beta available exclusively on Xbox Live Arcade. Recently the beta was extended and a patch released to fix problems that dogged the beta from the get go. This seems to have rubbed salt in the wound of some gamers who feel the beta should have been made available to PS3 owners as well.

Capcom promised a surprise announcement relating to Street Fighter early this week and the publisher certainly has delivered. Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors’ Dreams (known as Street Fighter Zero to some SF fans) hit the arcades in 1995 and was released on the PlayStation in 1996.

Alpha featured a new art style, animation and game play additions. The game brought together a cast of 13 characters from the collective SF universe including Ryu, Chun-Li and Ken. The inaugural title in the series introduced super combos and alpha counters.

Great news for Street Fighter fans, the patch for Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Beta is now available.

Just start the Beta and the patch will update automatically. The patch fixes quite a few problems but I will mention a few specifically pointed out on Capcom’s blog. The title no longer crashes when joining games so all online functions are up and running and netcode optimizations have been made which mean that the overall online experience should be 50% better.

Despite wanting to add more characters due to gamers’ requests, Capcom noted that it was not technically possible to add more characters to the patch.

Remember that you will only be able to download the Beta if you purchased Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 on XBLA (which is available for 800 Microsoft Points). The Beta has been extended to the 5th of September.
