Minecraft is currently the second most played game on Xbox LIVE. That’s according to the weekly Xbox LIVE activity chart which shows that Minecraft moved up from third place last week, overtaking Call of Duty: Black Ops to secure second, beaten only by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
According to a report on industry site MCV, online retailer Amazon is claiming that day one pre-order numbers for the just-announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 are triple that of the game’s 2010 predecessor.
Amazon UK’s games manager Graham Chambers remarked:

It seems as though the excitement surrounding the announcement of the next Call of Duty can’t be contained as the first two screenshots for what is believed to be Black Ops 2 have been released ahead of schedule:

Call of Duty fans and perennial franchise naysayers alike will be looking forward to tonight when Activision makes a formal announcement of the next game from Treyarch - a game that is all but confirmed to be titled Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
While we’ve come to expect a new Call of Duty game every year, it’s at least a little strange that concrete evidence of 2012’s edition of the series only really came about earlier this month, when a promotional flier from a US retailer made its way into the hands of enthusiast press ahead of schedule.
Since then, the brakes on this Call of Duty rumour train have been well and truly released as Activision itself set about releasing teaser images and audio logs to give us clues as to the nature of the publisher’s next blockbuster shooter.
As we tumble towards the reveal of the next Call of Duty title from Activision and Treyarch (now basically confirmed to be Call of Duty: Black Ops 2), two new information unlocks have appeared on the official site to clue us into the nature of the upcoming game.

Will this year’s edition of Call of Duty be a direct follow-up to 2010’s Call of Duty: Black Ops? Will we see Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 on store shelves later this year?
According to a report on IGN, as well as images of pre-order cards at US retailer Target, we may just have the answer… and a solid release date for the game.
So (at least one part of) the rumours were true… so far!
According to the official Call of Duty site, Activision Publishing will be making a ‘World Reveal’ of the next Call of Duty game at the beginning of next month, during the May 1st basketball playoffs shown on US television (TNT, to be precise).
Right, we’ve been turning a blind eye to this for long enough but the rumours and speculation have been whipping against the bow of SS El33t for far too long now - with E3 2012 (basically) just around the corner and an announcement due soon, we’re going to jump aboard this Black Ops 2 vessel and test its seaworthiness.

Where does this leave Battlefield 3?
EA and DICE’s game is relegated to No. 4 this week ahead of FIFA 12, and interestingly following Modern Warfare 3’s release, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has slipped down to No. 6.
