[UPDATE] Bowling has announced that the COD4 Variety Map Pack will be available on the PlayStation Network for $9.99.

While Xbox 360 gamers have been eagerly trying out the four new multiplayer maps in the newly released Variety Map Pack, there is also some good news for PS3 players.

According to Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling, the Variety Map Pack DLC and patch required to add the maps to the game were sent to Sony for certification yesterday. Bowling commented “We’re shooting for a worldwide simultaneous release, so all users can expect to have it at the same general time frame when it finishes certification.”

“In addition the map pack should be hitting the PSN store around the same time the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Game of the Year Edition for PS3 hits store shelves. I will have exact details on the GOTY edition, release dates, and more hopefully this week as they’re being finalized.”

Stay tuned for the release date which is sure to hit the wires soon.

The Xbox 360 Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack will be available this week. This is the word from Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling (aka fourzerotwo) who silenced rumours that the map pack had been delayed to the 10th of April.

Rumours of the 10th of April delay started circulating after the COD4 Game of the Year website started them. Bowling commented “As of right now we’re pushing certification for an on-time release for April 3rd or 4th. As of right now though, I’m being told that it’s a good chance it will be released worldwide (except for Japan) tomorrow night / early-Friday morning.”

“For those of you asking when you should take off work, I’d take off Friday, as it looks like they should be available late Thursday night / early Friday morning, which means Friday you should be able to play all day.”

He also confirmed that gamers with tokens from the Game of the Year edition can use them as soon as the map packs are available on Xbox Live. Until then make sure you check out a video of the new maps on Bowling’s site or head over to Xbox.com for more information on the maps.
