Criterion Games has stamped a 10th of July date on its Burnout Paradise Cagney Update. The free update will be released for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
The update will introduce three new Freeburn game modes including an eight player team event called Road Rage, Stunt Run (vs), and Marked Man. There will also be 70 new timed Freeburn Challenges along with leaderboards as well as a Hunter Olympus and secret Criterion Car, new liveries, custom soundtracks for the PS3 version and various bug fixes.

Criterion Games has announced that they have found a way to support 1080i in the PS3 version of Burnout Paradise.
According to a post on the developer’s website, “this will enable any gamers who own a 1080i TV that doesn’t support 720p to run the game in HD instead of SD.”
However, if you have the option to run 720p they recommend you run the game in this mode because the 1080i image is effectively scaled from 720p.
The 1080i support will be added with the ‘Cagney’ update, ie version 1.3. Once the Cagney download has been installed, gamers will need to tick 1080i and untick 720p in the XMB display options.
