EL33TONLINE: News tag archive: burnoutcrash
It was just last week that we invited you to let us know your fondest memory of playing Criterion’s legendary Burnout series of action racing games, and everybody delivered some fantastic tales of crashes, pile ups, expert timing and pure luck, all of which contribute to the explosive nature of the franchise.
Why did we ask you this? For a chance to win Burnout Crash!, Criterion’s latest Burnout game!
So who won the code?
It’s been a while since we last heard from Criterion’s Burnout series of action racing games, and even longer since we’ve had the chance to indulge in a bit of ordered chaos in the fan-favourite ‘Crash Mode’ of Burnout games of yore.
While a discrete ‘crash mode’ was omitted from Burnout Paradise (and kind-of sort-of replaced with that game’s more freeform ‘Showtime’ feature), Criterion has rolled the mode into its very own downloadable game, Burnout Crash!
Available now for Xbox 360 via Xbox LIVE and PS3 via PlayStation Network, Burnout Crash! introduces a new level of arcade action to the classic mode with all kinds of score multipliers, chains of explosions and special events, like hurricanes, blizzards and… pizza trucks?… all of which contribute to your final level points tally - your reward for inflicting the most carnage!
To let you in on the fun of Burnout Crash!, as well as it’s dedicated Kinect-enabled game mode for party play, El33tonline is giving away a download code for the game on Xbox 360, redeemable via Xbox LIVE.

Criterion Games released Burnout Crash! this week on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and the PlayStation Network, injecting a few more doses of Burnout’s fan-favourite ‘Crash Mode’ into our lives with the team’s explosive downloadable action-puzzle game, only this time played from a different perspective.
If you want to draw a tenuous line between this week’s brand new Xbox LIVE Arcade game releases, you could try and make an argument that both Burnout Crash! and Rotastic contain puzzle elements and require lightning-fast reflexes… but you would really just be fooling yourself.
The PS3 and PlayStation Store are doing their darnedest to compete with the release of Gears of War 3 yesterday, and will today try to turn your attention to a collection of brand new downloadable attractions.
This week’s US PS Store update contains a few gems for both PS3 and PSP owners, particularly if you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber.
2011 is the fifteenth anniversary for the Resident Evil series, which first appeared on PS1 back in 1996. Capcom is showing its love for the PlayStation platform by offering PS Plus members a veritable treasure trove of content. They’re giving away the first three Resident Evil games for free (playable on PSP or PS3) and making the HD remastered version of RE4 available for just $10 (normal price is $19.99). There’re also five free snazzy RE4 avatars to associate with your PSN account.
Earlier this year the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) in the US provided a rating and description for something called ‘Burnout Crash!’ which included talk of a “top-down perspective” game that allowed players to drive “’cartoony’ vehicles (e.g., cars, trucks, vans, buses) into busy intersections,” with threats including “oversized airplanes, tornadoes, lobster monsters, and UFOs.”
… Lobster monsters!
Now today at EA’s ‘Summer Showcase’ event, this title has been confirmed to be in development at Burnout racing franchise originators, Criterion Games, but despite the release of a batch of screenshots, the existence of the lobster monsters is sadly yet to be announced.
