Brink has been in desperate need of a bit of freshening up for a while now, despite the release of a few patches since its release in early May, and luckily for those of you who have stuck with Splash Damage and Bethesda’s multiplayer-based first-person shooter, the planned and promised ‘Agents of Change’ downloadable content is due for release this week across all platforms.

Xbox 360 Console (Smaller)The NPD results for May are out and Microsoft has already issued a response to bask in the glory of their victory.

We’re talking about the Xbox 360 being the top-selling console in the US last month with 270 000 units sold.

According to the Official Microsoft Blog Xbox 360 console sales were up 39% year-on-year during May, “the largest growth of any current generation console on the market.” May was also the 17th month of year-on-year hardware sales increases.

US sales tracking and research firm The NPD Group has just revealed sales figures for the country’s videogame industry for the month of May 2011. The picture painted is not quite as rosy as April 2011’s, with sales across hardware, software and accessories showing a 14% decrease to $743 million.

Around the same time that Bethesda Softworks officially announced its new romance with Splash Damage the couple promptly revealed that they were already working on a new baby. Anxious fans received much in the way of screenshots, concept art, developer diaries, in-game demo’s and a long list of planned features… but also protracted delays. After two years of unbridled anticipation, Brink has finally arrived!

From the looks of those stats, Brink players have been busy indeed, and now Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 players of Brink will be able to track and view statistics like these for the game, and more, including “in-depth players stats, match summaries, and the Battle for the Ark – a weekly meta-game between Security and Resistance.”

Is it any surprise that Rockstar’s latest published title was able to rocket to the top of Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing this past week? Surely not – this is the studio behind chart kings Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, after all!

So it is that LA Noire (developed by Team Bondi) has managed to claim the top spot on the UK sales chart, becoming the 13th fastest selling title in the UK on Xbox 360, and 11th fastest on PlayStation 3, while also netting itself the tag of fastest selling new videogame intellectual property in the UK!
