The Brain Training phenomenon has swept the world and continues to keep players’ brains active today! Developed in collaboration with Dr. Ryuta Kawashima, a Japanese Neuroscientist, Nintendo have created the ultimate brain exercise game, Brain Training. Using Dr. Kawashima’s books and theories as the basis, Brain Training is split into mini-games that put your brain’s abilities to the test.

Brain TrainingWhile Brain Training is fun and addictive on its own, a little competition never hurt anyone, so now you have the opportunity to pit your brain’s abilities against the rest of South Africa with Brain Training in three separate challenges!

How do you win? That’s easy. Visit the “What’s Your Brain Age?” website to find out where to be and what time to be there (click ‘The Challenge’ at the bottom of the page), where you’ll be able to enter the challenge and submit your best score. If your score is good enough, it’ll be entered into the website’s Leaderboards for all to see, as well as putting you in line to win R2000 worth of Nintendo DS software!

Another challenge, if you’re up to the task, is to submit your own video relating to the Brain Age Challenge (maybe some ‘mental pushups’?) and uploading it to YouTube. Once uploaded, submit the URL, as well as your name and contact information, to upload@whatsyourbrainage.co.za. The funniest video, chosen by a judging panel, will win the video’s creator a Nintendo DS Lite! Go check out some of the already submitted videos to see your competition for this prize.

The last challenge is to compare your brain’s abilities to those of your colleagues in the Corporate Challenge! Are you smarter than your boss? Head over to the Brain Training website to find out!

Now go have fun training your brain, with Brain Training!

We are reporting live from the Nintendo DS Lite launch in Johannesburg. Following the success of the Wii launch in September last year, Core Group has pulled out all the stops to put together a great launch event for the DS.

First things first…the Nintendo DS Lite will be available in all major retail outlets for a retail price of R1 799 from 1 February. The question on everyone’s minds has been what launch titles will hit the streets, and today we can confirm that New Super Mario Bros. (R449), Nintendogs (R449), Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old is your Brain (R349) and Mario Kart DS (R449) will be available from 1 February.

The DS Lite will be available in four colours: white, black, silver and pink.

Also launching in South Africa today is the big slugger titles for the Wii including the legendary Super Mario Galaxy (R499) and Mario Party 8 (R499).

More to follow later regarding how well the Wii has been received in South Africa and more coverage of the event.

Update:The DS Lite will be in stores from 1 March and not 1 February as stated.
