EL33TONLINE: News tag archive: bodycount
Bodycount positions itself right from the get-go as an all-out arcade shooter with promises of crumbling walls, nerve-racking firefights, ground-rocking explosions and streams of points as your reward for unleashing barrels of bullets, crunching headshots, destructive grenades and at least a few air strikes on your unwitting enemies.
It’s unfortunate then that a few key problems with Bodycount hinder the developer’s ability to fully deliver on an experience that quite matches this description (chief amongst them a frustratingly rough framerate and a shortage of unique and varied content), but when the battles are this fierce and the combat this satisfying, Bodycount can get away with a few transgressions.

Despite a whopping 46% drop in sales compared to the week previous, Deus Ex: Human Revolution has once again claimed the top spot on Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing, ahead of the newly released Driver: San Francisco.
Ubisoft’s Driver, however, had enough success to land it in No. 2 on the chart - as 53% of the game’s sales were seen on Xbox 360, while 46% were recorded on PS3 - effectively pushing the previous sales monster Zumba Fitness down by one place to No. 3, as that title’s sales dropped by 19% from the previous week.
Sales of Rugby World Cup also fell, this time by 30%, forcing the game down to No. 4 from No. 3, while LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (sales down 16%) stepped down one place to No. 5.
We’re only a little ways away from the official start of the weekend, and El33tonline is taking a break from all of this gaming nonsense.
Wait, no… that’s a lie. We’re still going to be playing a bunch of games, but we’ll also be stopping for a few brief moments to relax and catch up with humanity. So what are select members of El33tonline planning for the next two days?

The El33t team is back on South African soil, and to celebrate here’s a brief look at what we’ll be up to this weekend.
Sorry for the radio silence on last week’s Pre-W33kend post, but things have been a little crazy lately with four members of the team in Germany covering gamescom. The good news is that you can enjoy some awesome previews this weekend, with even more goodies to come next week (pictures! swag!)…
E3 2011 was a new beginning for Codemasters’ next first-person shooter, Bodycount. Previous showings of the game were intriguing but showed nothing that we hadn’t already done in the game’s progenitor, Black, and didn’t represent anything more unique than pure arcade action seen a game like Bulletstorm.
Thanks to new reveals at this year’s E3, however, Bodycount very suddenly became an exciting proposition with its focus on gunplay, destructible environments and massive explosions!
With the release of a huge batch of new screenshots for Bodycount, new story and gameplay details have also emerged to fill us in on a whole batch of details:
The last day or two has been awash in exciting morsels of news, so much so that it’s been a little troublesome trying to keep up with it all!
That’s why we’ve rounded up a few of the more interesting announcements and reveals all together in one handy collection so you can find out a little bit more about Respawn Entertainment’s first game, how Modern Warfare 3’s Killstreaks are going to be revamped, how Age of Conan has gone free-to-play, and more!
It was a bit of a quiet E3 for Codemasters and Namco Bandai this year, but the pair’s marquee titles were present at full blast with impressive showings from fantasy-themed offerings such as Dark Souls and Soul Calibur V, and the decidedly more extreme first-person shooter, Bodycount.
There was a period of time where I was very worried about the development of Codemasters’ Bodycount, a hectic first-person shooter billed as a raucous rollercoaster that swings from one over-the-top action set-piece to the next, while allowing players to shoot the world to pieces thanks to generously destructible environments.
It’s only very recently that my worries have been abated, first with the release of some impressive screenshots, and now with an insanely cool looking gameplay trailer.
Watch below as enemies and the player tear through buildings with a cacophony of bullets, explosions and brute strength – amazing!
Codemasters have been pretty quiet about Bodycount, their upcoming insane-sounding first-person shooter since it was first revealed in March last year. But that looks set to change as the publisher today released a batch of new screenshots along with the box art for the game.
Codemasters and South African videogame distributor Megarom today announced that the pair have partnered up for a multi-title distribution deal.
The exclusive partnership will see Megarom market and distribute highly anticipated Codemasters titles in South Africa, including Operation Flashpoint: Red River, DiRT 3 and Bodycount.
Director Distributor Territories and Emerging Markets, Hal Bame, said of the partnership:
Codemasters has released a video comprising very early gameplay footage from the insane-sounding first-person shooter, Bodycount, and even though it is still early days (the footage is from a pre-alpha version of the game), it’s already looking very promising indeed.
Reported features (such as destructible walls and objects) make a showing, as hundreds of rounds of ammunition are pumped into enemy and explosive barrel alike, with zero signs of prejudice.
Finally, a videogame that treats gun-toting madmen and combustible objects equally - at least Codemasters is willing to stand up for what it believes in:
“Set to rip apart the First Person Shooter and deliver genre-defining gun play that comes alive in an orgy of bullets and destruction, Codemasters today confirmed that Bodycount is the new IP in production at Codemasters Studios Guildford.”
Now that’s how you start a press release!
As you might have gathered, Codemasters has announced that a new first-person shooter is currently in development at their Guildford studio, under the watchful eye of creative director Stuart Black who, the release says, is set to “reboot shooter gun play” with the title going by the name of Bodycount.
