Don’t ask us to explain that header, because we have no idea. If you want something that makes sense, then ask Microsoft to fill its weekly Xbox LIVE Arcade release schedule with game titles that suit themselves to mash-ups.
We can’t work like this anymore.
Nevertheless, what we have to work with this week are at least quality games in their own right, with the 2D action of BloodRayne: Betrayal, the action RPG allure of Crimson Alliance, the Kinect-driven antics of Leedmees, and the fast-paced flying exploits of SkyDrift.
Let’s take a look at each of them with official details, pricing information and a collection of screenshots:
This week’s U.S. PlayStation Store update is jam-packed with free content to enjoy, particularly if you’re a Plus member.
There’s a new episode of Qore to download which includes a fascinating biography on Amy Hennig - the creative director and lead writer for the Uncharted series.
Plus subscribers get five free games this week including the ultra-addictive Plants vs. Zombies and a remastered version of the 1988 beat ‘em up Altered Beast.
These past few weeks have been kind of busy, with all sorts of videogame information falling straight through the sieve as we juggled our prior engagements.
Not to mention other general activity.
As a result, there are a few pieces of news that we might have missed. Things like… release dates for upcoming games. Let’s try and catch up with some of the bigger release date announcements right now, shall we?
Sony Computer Entertainment has today announced a massive PlayStation Network promotional programme that will soon allow all PlayStation Store browsers to pre-order four upcoming PSN games and be eligible to receive special bonus gifts with every purchase.
Starting August 9th in North American and August 10th in European territories, the four games included in the PlayStation Network PLAY promotion range from Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition to BloodRayne: Betrayal, with a special bonus fifth game on offer in the form of PAYDAY: The Heist.
It was only two months ago that the next entry to the fan-favourite Bloodrayne action adventure series was announced with a teaser trailer, giving us a little hope that the franchise could live again in the HD era.
The promise was short-lived, however, as it became apparent that this new Bloodrayne game, Betrayal, would in fact take the form of a 2D brawler to be released as a downloadable game over Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network. Turned out the title was pretty apt.
Majesco and developer Wayforward have today revealed that a new entry to the Bloodrayne series of action adventure games is currently in the works and scheduled for release via digital means on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this ‘Summer,’ while unleashed a teaser trailer to prove the game’s existence.
Titled BloodRayne: Betrayal, the game will see protagonist Rayne fight it out 2D side-scroller style as she destroys gruesome creatures of the night with reckless abandon at the behest of the Brimstone Society, a group of vampire hunters. An arsenal of weaponry, puzzles and new characters are promised for this latest outing.
CEO of Majesco Entertainment Jesse Sutton said of BloodRayne: Betrayal:
