According to Xbox mouthpiece Major Nelson (he’s been really prolific with his posts today!), over one million Xbox LIVE users voted on your favourite Xbox LIVE Arcade games of 2009, from games like Trials HD and Splosion Man, to Battlefield 1943 and Shadow Complex, in categories such as ‘Best Original Game,’ ‘Best Graphics’ and ‘Best Innovation.’
The results of the voting follows below:
It looks like a triple feature this time on the old Xbox LIVE Arcade, as Banjo-Tooie, Cyber Troopers Virtual On Oratorio Tangram and Sorry! (for Hasbro’s Family Game Night) make their way onto the service.
First up is Banjo-Tooie for 1200 MS Points, the re-release (and ante-upped) second entry to the Banjo Kazooie franchise released on the N64 all those years ago:
“The bear and bird’s second outing available in full. Loads of rollicking fun to be had here and with the legendary Stop N Swap feature reinstated. The best use of a backpack in a game ever!”
Next up is Cyber Troopers Virtual On Oratorio Tangram, known to fans of the series as VOOT, also available for 1200 MS Points, which is also a release of the classic mech arena fighting game:
Rare have announced a firm release date for the further adventures of Banjo and friends on Xbox LIVE Arcade (XBLA), Banjo-Tooie.
Banjo-Tooie, ported by the capable hands of 4J Studios from its original incarnation on the N64 all those years ago, will be up and available on XBLA on April 29th, which is a Wednesday. From the Rare blog post:
“Set a reminder in your reminding appliance of choice, as it’s full to the brim with updates and tweaks from the original release, not least being a super-charged frame rate and some fully-featured Stop ‘N’ Swoppery.”
While pricing wasn’t discussed, you could probably expect Banjo-Tooie to release for 1200 MS Points, as did the previous game in the series, Banjo-Kazooie, when it released on XBLA.
In a post on the official forums, it has been confirmed that the platformer Banjo Tooie, released on the N64 all those years ago and the sequel to Banjo Kazooie, is getting a full conversion makeover for Xbox LIVE Arcade, releasing this April. From the post:
“In what promises to be amongst the biggest and boldest – and certainly the bear-iest – releases on Xbox LIVE Arcade, Banjo-Tooie will be a note-perfect migration of Banjo and Kazooie’s second adventure. In their struggle against Grunty and her wicked sisters, the bear and bird can now rely on the extra grunt supplied by the Xbox 360, bringing with it silky-smooth frame rates and super-sharp HD graphics.”
You can expect all of the features from the original game to be included, as well as implementation of the “Stop ‘n Swop” feature, allowing items you collect in Banjo Kazooie (on XBLA) to appear in Banjo Tooie. Three more screenshots await your consumption below:
