EL33TONLINE: News tag archive: bandhero

Band Hero is, essentially, Guitar Hero 5 with a different track list and a very slightly different aesthetic. It’s clear that the track list is aimed at a different market to Guitar Hero – it’s a game for people that enjoy top 40 pop-rock music, but other than this the game hasn’t been changed much at all, and can’t be said to be even a minor evolution in the genre. Of course, playing plastic instruments with friends is still lots of fun, there’s no denying that, but you should really consider Band Hero to be an expansion disc of 65 new songs (most of which you can export into Guitar Hero) and not a new game in its own right.

Band Hero Logo SmallXbox LIVE Marketplace is now the home of a new demo for Activision’s ‘other’ music game, Band Hero, which features songs from Finger Eleven (“Paralyzer”), Katrina & The Waves (“Walking on Sunshine”) and Taylor Swift (“Picture to Burn”).

Band Hero is set to try and capture a wider, family audience (as compared to the audience that usually gravitates towards the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games) by featuring music typically found in the Top 40 hits you usually hear on the radio.

If top 40 pop music is your thing, then Band Hero is too.

DJ Hero Turntable ShotFirst up is DJ Hero, which introduces new genres of music to the Hero franchise, with hip-hop, R&B, Motown, electronica and dance, all controlled with the new DJ Hero turntable controller which “transforms players into DJs who rule the club scene by creating original mixes of popular songs and music from the world’s most exciting artists and DJs.”

That sounds scary.
