Nope.

In fact, after receiving a number of nominees for this year’s awards ceremony, none of them received a single final nod, while titles like Portal 2, Battlefield 3 and Batman: Arkham City swept up most of the awards at the show.

You can read through the full list of nominees over here, and compare them to the final list of BAFTA Game Awards winners below:

The legendary founder of the legendary Atari (in its initial form in the 70’s), as well as the man behind Pong, Nolan Bushnell is to receive the prestigious Fellowship award from BAFTA at this year’s British Academy Video Game Awards in March. Bushnell said:

Nolan Bushnell“I am humbled to be selected for this honour from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

“The British people are not only great game players but have historically been some of the best game creators. The pub culture and country house drawing room environments have been instrumental in spawning games and game players through the centuries.

“I am very grateful to receive an award from the people with a history of creating and embracing this type of entertainment.”

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards are going continue to acknowledge excellence in the video game industry after a delay in proceedings.

BAFTAEvery year, BAFTA awards are handed out to films, video games and television programmes that have achieved in terms of quality. Last year, the BAFTA judges had to use pre-release code to judge the winners in the video game category to get their full impressions in time for the October event, which is no good. This year’s event has been canceled because the judges felt they didn’t have enough time to play through the selection of games. As a result, the BAFTA awards ceremony will be held on March 10th 2009, at the London Hilton on Park Lane, with the nominations for the event to be announced on February 10th, 2009.

One new feature of the awards process is that nominees are encouraged to submit short-films, detailing the development of the game in a ‘behind-the-scenes.’ These films are then to be posted on the BAFTA website as well as distributed to gaming websites to help promote the games up for consideration for an award.

Chairman of the Academy’s Games committee, Ray Maguire said “We are keen to see the new filmed support material be developed by each nominee, as this is the sort of initiative that helps the wider world understand that the creation and development of video games is an art form, often with teams of hundreds of people and budgets on a par with feature films.”
