Unsurprisingly for a nation of cricket fans, a new game dealing with the sport, Ashes Cricket 2009, has managed to run straight to No. 1 on the UK Software Sales Chart in its debut week on sale, pushing former champion Wii Sports Resort (sales down 49%) to No. 2.

Ashes Cricket 2009 has outsold that title by 3 to 1 in their respective debut weeks, though, making it the biggest launch for a cricket game ever, almost matching the sales performance of EA’s Fight Night Round 4 earlier this year.
