We realise Team Ninja is trying something a little different with the long-running fighter franchise, Dead or Alive, but this video for Dead or Alive 5 is… very different!
Featuring a fight between Dead or Alive stalwarts Lei Fang and Zack, the video showcases a circus-themed fighting arena complete with fire hoops, leaping tigers, jack-in-the-box traps and costumes to match the insanity.
This is the kind of different we can get behind!
Konami has just set live a teaser site for an announcement of some kind, which is set to be unveiled on May 31st - the same day as the publisher’s pre-E3 2012 press event.
It’s safe to say that the ‘Tales of’ series is Namco Bandai’s flagship JRPG franchise. Not all of the games in this long-running series have been localised for the West but nevertheless there still seems to be a huge fanbase for the franchise outside of Japan.
The formal announcement of Crysis 3 last month may not have been a well-kept secret, but the excitement and intrigue has spilled over into the last few weeks with the debut gameplay trailer and lots of speculation and commentary about that crossbow.
Is it ridiculous for a supersoldier to use a crossbow? Not unless it’s ridiculously cool!
Following a flurry of fantastic fan-friendly… Halo 4 news, with details on the game’s exciting ‘Halo Infinity Multiplayer’ suite of customisation options and game modes, as well as information on the Halo 4 Limited Edition, Microsoft has released a version of the title’s box art that’s presented in a completely brand new way: Animated!
Watch the quick video below to see the previously unveiled Halo 4 cover art in glorious animated fashion, but wait until the end of the trailer for an intriguing story hint…
In a clever (and quick) campaign to reveal the box art of Halo 4 in a very non-traditional way (creating a flurry of excitement in the process), Microsoft and 343 Industries recently emailed out internet addresses to a few chosen Halo fans which pointed to segments and slices of downloadable images.
These fans caught on very fast and soon gathered to put their respectively-emailed image pieces together to form a final image and, wouldn’t you know it, a glorious Halo 4 packshot began to take shape:
With the announcement and reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Activision and Treyarch have released a series of brief documentary videos featuring influential military figure Oliver North and author P.W. Singer, both of whom speak about the realities of war both in its current form and in the future.
The pair of analysts also discuss technologies that are available and in development today that will make the war of the future an incredibly frightening prospect, while also touching on ‘nightmare scenarios’ in which these lethal weapons can fall into the wrong hands.
It all paints a bleak, but plausible and fascinating picture, and one that players will be faced with during the events of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 - consume below:
Bethesda Softworks has today announced The Elder Scrolls Online, a massively multiplayer online RPG set in the studio’s vast Elder Scrolls universe.
Max Payne’s tragic journey into the night continues this month when Max Payne 3 releases on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, providing all of the Bullet Time action and film noir tension we could ever want out of a game.
The fact that reports point to Max Payne 3’s multiplayer matching the singleplayer portion of the title point to an unmissable experience but if you want a little extra Payne in your life, Rockstar Games is happy to provide!
For starters, we can look forward to part one of an original digital comic series written by Rockstar and produced by Marvel, ‘After the Fall,’ which releases tomorrow, while details of the first round of downloadable content for Max Payne 3 have also arrived.
Interested in these fine goods? There’s more:
Blockbuster videogames have seen some mighty advertising efforts in recent years, but the one a lot of gamers will point to as the most affecting is Halo 3’s ‘Finish the Fight’ - a campaign which comprised a series of mock interviews with survivors of important battles in which they had witnessed the awe-inspiring antics of Master Chief as he lead his side to victory against all odds.
The centrepiece of this campaign was a fly-through of a diorama depicting an epic battle, set to moving piano music composed by series-long musician Martin O’Donnell.
The fact that I can recall this campaign in an instant from the recesses of my memory means it had an incredible, lasting impact. With Halo 4, Microsoft and series steward 343 Industries are looking to do it all over again.
If you’re looking forward to the next Dead or Alive 5 fighter from Team Ninja this September, then you’ll be excited to look over the latest media blow-out for the game with a huge collection of screenshots and artwork showcasing the larger-than-life characters and events you’ll see while gripped by the brutal combat.
We’ve also included an epic fight sequence between two of the series’ well-known characters, Christie and Bayman, as they battle in the war-torn streets of the ‘Hotzone’ level - not your average backgrounds here:
With the reveal of Halo 4’s release date (November 6th if you didn’t know), the countdown has begun for the first game in the next trilogy of this blockbuster franchise - a trilogy that Microsoft says will “encompass the next decade of Halo games and experiences.”
It’ll also be the first trilogy not helmed by franchise creators, Bungie, but judging purely by the debut screenshots and artwork released for Halo 4 (and not locked away in Game Informer exclusivity), 343 Industries and its development partners will be doing right by the fans.
Konami has begun this year’s Pro Evolution Soccer campaign with a teaser trailer featuring football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, with promises of a full announcement trailer tomorrow, April 24th.
Hmm. Why does that date sound familiar? Nice move Konami.
You can watch that teaser trailer below and glimpse the first bit of artwork for PES 2013 below:
Transformers fans will no doubt name Grimlock as the most well-known Dinobot in the franchise - the group’s leader and “a space T-Rex,” as described by High Moon Studios’ game director, Matt Tieger.
In High Moon’s upcoming action game, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Grimlock will have an important part to play and according to Tieger, this Dinobot is unlike any other character in the game, preferring to go into combat with melee attacks as a brawler.
See Grimlock in fight his way through packs of enemies in debut gameplay footage, and see his transformed T-Rex state stomp the battefield, below:
Where other than Captivate 2012 would you see legendary Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono don a promotional martial arts gown and, Blanka figurine in hand, playfully taunt and gibe an audience to get rowdy in anticipation of the next game under his supervision?
Nowhere else, so if you didn’t see it you certainly missed out.
Luckily for us, however, El33tonline’s Lisa was there to capture the madness in photos and text as Ono and Capcom unveiled the cross-platform features of Street Fighter X Tekken for PS Vita.
So is Street Fighter X Tekken Vita merely a port from home consoles? Not at all.
