On the back of an entire ton of screenshots for three known Nintendo 3DS games, we now have another unit of weight measurement’s worth of screenshots for three more 3DS games, this time revealing actual graphics for Animal Crossing, PilotWings Resort and Paper Mario… all set to appear on the 3DS sometime in the unknown future.

It would be safe to assume that some (if not all) of these games (like the other games) will be available to coincide with the release of the console itself (rumoured to be sooner than you think, but probably March 2011).

Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City is on the surface the same game you’ve been playing on the Nintendo DS and on the GameCube before it. Dig deeper and it becomes apparent that there is quite a bit more to it, but there is certainly nothing in this Wii game that will convert you into an Animal Crossing fan if you weren’t one before. Animal Crossing is the subtlest game I’ve ever played – the vast variety of things to do and events to experience isn’t evident from the start, but if you put a lot of effort and creativity into it you never stop getting enjoyment out of it.

Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City for the Wii now has a firm South African release month for Nintendo fans to look forward to. What is Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City? Well, Mr. Press Release usually says it best:

Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City Box Art “If life were an endless vacation, what would you do? Go fishing, collect shells or watch fireworks with friends? Build a snowman, exchange presents with family or decorate your house for the holidays? Take a trip to the city, go on a shopping spree or visit friends from all over the globe? In Animal Crossing: City Folk, life moves at a relaxed pace, but the world brims with endless possibilities.”

For South Africans waiting to get their hands on this iteration of the Animal Crossing series, you can mark your calendars now as Core Gaming have revealed that Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City will be hitting stores in March.

You’ll either be able to get Animal Crossing bundled with the new Wii Speak accessory, which allows players to chat online, or you can just get the game by itself.

Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City Box ArtAnimal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City for the Wii will be released across South Africa in Quarter 2 of 2009. The game will be bundled with the new Wii Speak accessory but gamers will also be able to buy Wii Speak individually.

For those who didn’t delve into Animal Crossing on the DS or GameCube, Animal Crossing is best explained as a game where you’re basically on an endless holiday, where you can interact with anything and anyone, allowing you to go fishing, collect shells, dig a garden, go trick-or-treating on Halloween or catch fireflies. Previous iterations have also been lauded for their use of real-world holidays occurring in the game using the machine’s internal clock.

Wii Speak, on the other hand, is a device for the Wii that sits above the sensor bar and acts as a microphone and speaker, essentially allowing everybody in one room to listen and speak to other, online players, without the need for individual headsets.

Wii SpeakCore Gaming has not yet announced a price for the game. However, you can get an indication of pricing from the UK’s Wii Speak and Animal Crossing bundle which is available for £59.99 or, individually, you can get Wii Speak for £25 or Animal Crossing for £39.99. The game is also available in the US where it is known as Animal Crossing: City Folk. The bundle currently retails at $70 while the game is available for $50 and Wii Speak for $30.

The game has been well received so far. Media Create figures show that it debuted at number 1 on the Japanese software chart with 305 000 copies. Released on the 20th of November in Japan its life-to-date sales already fall just shy of the half a million mark at 489 300 copies.

For those who didn’t delve into Animal Crossing on the DS, you can look forward to immersing yourself in this life simulation complete with cute characters and fun daily activities such as gardening, fishing, redecorating your house or visiting friends. Since the game passes in real time you can also celebrate special holidays such as Christmas or Halloween.

Players will be able to visit theatres, hair salons or departments stores in the new city environment or send letters and items from your post office to friends using Wi-Fi. Players will even be able to transfer some character data from the DS version Wild World to the Wii and use the DS to transfer characters from the Wii version to their friend’s Wiis.

Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City launches on the Wii across Europe in December. For more details and screenshots head over to our previous coverage.
