According to a report on industry site MCV, online retailer Amazon is claiming that day one pre-order numbers for the just-announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 are triple that of the game’s 2010 predecessor.
Amazon UK’s games manager Graham Chambers remarked:
Sony is giving its North American customers an opportunity to pick up PS Vita a week before its official launch on February 22nd by means of the ‘First Edition Bundle’. This means you can be playing on your very own PS Vita as early as February 15th next year. This pre-order offer is currently only available at Amazon but may also be extended to other retailers in the coming weeks.
Red Dead Redemption released to retailers in the UK today, and with the launch of the Western-themed open-world action game comes news that those selfsame retailers are having a difficult time holding onto copies (specifically PlayStation 3 copies) of the title.
“Massive” shortages of Red Dead Redemption have hit stores, with blame being put on manufacturing problems and delays, and some reports even going as far as to say that a sunken cargo ship is the reason that consumers simply can’t get their hands on the game in the region.
Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption is undoubtedly an anticipated game, and after having already released in North America on Tuesday, it’s now up to the release in the UK tomorrow, May 21st, to ensure that the game continues to be a true global hit.
According to Amazon.co.uk, this won’t be a problem, as the company has announced that Red Dead Redemption is currently its biggest selling pre-order in the category of videogames for the year so far.
Director of Video Games at Amazon.co.uk Ltd Chris Poad enthused:
In a post on the US PlayStation Blog, director of PlayStation Network operations Eric Lempel has announced that downloadable content (DLC) for the PlayStation 3 and PSP, usually only accessible directly through the PlayStation Network, will now be available to purchase via Amazon.com’s videogame store.
Major Nelson, the king of all X-Bots, has officially announced that Xbox 360 owners (living in the US) are now able to buy Xbox LIVE Arcade games directly through the enormous online shopping service, Amazon, and their Xbox LIVE Store.
You will also be able to buy MS Points (for use in the Xbox LIVE Marketplace) as well as subscriptions to Xbox LIVE.
Once you make a purchase on Amazon, you’ll receive a code to use in Marketplace, or you can redeem the code directly at Xbox.com. Additionally, you’ll be able to gift games and MS Points to your friends and family as usual on Amazon.
This service will most probably be offered to users in other parts of the world in the near future, but is currently restricted to the US.
