The next instalment in Q-Games popular PixelJunk series is set to land on the PlayStation Network this week.
PixelJunk Sidescroller, a strategic side-scrolling action shooter, will be available tomorrow on the North American PlayStation Store and then on the European PlayStation Store on Wednesday.
Q-Games has changed the name of the upcoming PixelJunk Lifelike. The title will henceforth be known as PixelJunk 4am!
President and Executive Producer Dylan Cuthbert explained how the name was changed “after long deliberation” to “better match the atmosphere [they] are trying to create”:
A new instalment in G-Games popular PixelJunk series was recently unveiled at this year’s E3.
PixelJunk SideScroller is described as a strategic side-scrolling action shooter and will be available on the PlayStation Network in 2011. The game promises to be a “re-invented genre” with new levels and ferocious boss attacks as well as a local two player co-op mode.
We’re big fans of Japan-based developer Q-Games here at El33tonline. How could we not be when we’ve spent countless hours carefully placing towers and saving villagers in PixelJunk Monsters? And that’s not even counting the time we’ve put into PixelJunk Racers, PixelJunk Eden and PixelJunk Shooter!
So naturally we’re excited to hear that Q-Games will have three of their games on show at E3 next week.
Three!
The US PlayStation Store has been updated with a whole bunch of new goodies for all you PS3 owners out there to enjoy.

During March Q-Games announced that PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe for the PSP would be available on UMD on the 27th of April. However, Sony has since revealed that the game will be coming in at a much lower price point than previously stated.
PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe will be available at retail stores for just $9.99, quite a marked reduction from the initial price of $19.99. The download version of the game will also be reduced to $9.99 on that date.
Although we already knew that Q-Games was working on a new instalment in its popular PixelJunk series, details of the new title were still scarce. Until now that is, because Dylan Cuthbert, President and Executive Producer of Q-Games has announced that PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap will be arriving on the PlayStation Network this Spring.
Q-Games has confirmed that a sequel to the popular PixelJunk Racers is in the pipeline.
This comes after the ESRB revealed last week that PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap was en-route to the PS3. At first Dylan Cuthbert, president and executive producer of Q-Games, denied the game’s existence – a post on his Twitter account read “no idea…the ESRB always randomly rate randomly named games from randomly unnamed sources.”
Q-Games, the developers behind the popular PixelJunk series, has released the official launch trailer for their new title PixelJunk Shooter.
Q-Games has announced that the fourth game in the popular PixelJunk series, PixelJunk Shooter, will be available on the PlayStation Store next week Thursday, the 10th of December. The game will be available across North America and Europe simultaneously, and ahead of Japan for those keeping tab.
PixelJunk Shooter mixes shooting and strategy elements as players navigate their way through cavernous stages in a rescue ship, taking cover behind rocks, trading fire with enemies and rescuing survivors. The game features same screen co-op (like Eden), as well as supporting custom soundtracks, the screenshot feature, PSP remote play and YouTube video uploading.
Developer Q-Games will be releasing a free PSP demo of PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe on the 26th of November.
This news comes from Dylan Cuthbert, President and Executive Producer of Q-Games, who confirmed that the demo will be downloadable from the web at pixeljunk.jp and available at the PlayStation Store. In case you were wondering the demo weighs in at 12.5MB.

Q-Games are the developer behind the popular PixelJunk series of downloadable games for the PS3. The series kicked off with PixelJunk Racers soon moved on to PixelJunk Monsters and finished off with PixelJunk Eden, with PixelJunk Shooter currently in development.
However, it seems as if Q-Games might just consider working on a sequel to PixelJunk Monsters. That’s according to Dylan Cuthbert, President and Executive Producer of Q-Games, who responded to a query about the possibility of PixelJunk Monsters 2 as follows:
PixelJunk developer Q-Games showed off some new stages of their upcoming game PixelJunk Shooter at last week’s San Diego Comic-Con.
PixelJunk Shooter mixes shooting and strategy elements as players navigate their way through cavernous stages in a rescue ship, taking cover behind rocks, trading fire with enemies and rescuing survivors. The game is expected to be released sometime later this year.
PixelJunk developer Q-Games has released some information about the two player mode in their upcoming game PixelJunk Shooter.
According to Dylan Cuthbert, President and Executive Producer of Q Games, “we’ve tried to make co-op as de-stressed as possible, so even if your player’s ship gets hit by something or overheats and starts crashing towards the ground, you can pop out your extendible hook thing (no official name for this yet - “Grabber” perhaps?) and grab your friend (he’s a bit heavy tho, so watch out), then you can carry him to the nearest pool of water and dunk him in to restore his health. If you don’t manage to grab him in time, he’ll just re-spawn near you and you’ll be docked a life.”
Q-Games has revealed the name for the next game in the popular PixelJunk series. The new game, affectionately referred to as PixelJunk 1-4 up until now, will be titled PixelJunk Shooter.
The publisher unveiled the trailer for the new game a couple of weeks ago. In addition a naming contest was launched, calling upon PixelJunk fans to submit names for the new title. The contest was a hit, with over 100 000 visitors logging on to www.pixeljunk.jp and 10 000 gamers offering names based on the trailer.
Yesterday Dylan Cuthbert, President and Executive Producer of Q-Games, announced on SCEA’s PlayStation Blog that the new game would be called PixelJunk Shooter and unveiled the new logo for the game. Runner-up names included PixelJunk Depths, PixelJunk Atlantis, PixelJunk Caves, PixelJunk Blaster and PixelJunk S.O.S!
