Microsoft has confirmed its intention to discontinue further runs of the interactive Xbox LIVE trivia-based game show, 1 VS 100.

Based on the broadcast TV show of the same name, 1 VS 100 successfully completed two online ‘seasons’ on Xbox LIVE, and challenged participants to test their general trivia knowledge either in a ‘Mob’ of 100 cooperating users, or as a single user, the ‘One.’

It was then up to each group (the ‘Mob’ and the ‘One’) to prove their mastery of trivia by correctly answering a series of questions.

According to Microsoft, a third season of 1 VS 100 is not on the cards, although the lessons learned during its running will be applied to “future programming”:

It’s just been announced that a beta test for the TV quiz show, 1 VS 100, will be landing on Xbox LIVE in the UK on July 10th (this Friday) to deliver “the first truly interactive game show experience straight to the living room.”

1 VS 100 is a TV quiz show created by Endemol that pits the knowledge of 1 person (“The One”) against the collective knowledge of 100 other people (“The Mob”), as a variety of general knowledge questions are asked of the two entities with prizes going to whoever performs the best.

1 VS 100, on Xbox LIVE, follows the same formula, only with members of Xbox LIVE filling the two roles, competing to become the ultimate 1 VS 100 champion. Director, Entertainment and Devices Division, Microsoft Ld, Stephen McGill said :

“Xbox is delighted to team up with Endemol to bring the hit TV game show 1 vs 100 to the Xbox LIVE platform and deliver the first truly interactive game show experience.

“We believe consumers will really enjoy being able to take part in a real live game show,” continued McGill, “where they can have fun challenging friends, family and other LIVE members, whilst having the chance to win some really great prizes.”
