The story goes as follows: Some of the makers of Diablo formed Runic Games and gave us Torchlight. It draws heavily on the aforementioned game, but has a streamlined coat of paint to take some of the unnecessary tedium out. First released on PC in 2009, it has now been released on Xbox Live Arcade with a redesigned interface, from your inventory to controlling the character.
Your adventure starts in the town of Torchlight with a corrupted mine and goes deep underground as you seek out the source of the evil. The journey is a very friendly and enjoyable one. Presented through a colourful palette and a touch of cartoonlike design, it is a welcome deviation from the grim world of Diablo. The story is only narrated, very well I might add, but it could really benefit from some form of cut-scenes to help set the stage.

Xbox LIVE arcade games are usually short quirky affairs that focus on one or two features and provide around five hours of entertainment. But then there are games like Castle Crashers that just overflow with content and keep you busy for hours without end.
It is the second game from developers The Behemoth, following up on Alien Hominid, which incidentally is also an unlockable character if you own the game. It features a refined art style but still maintains the colorful comic style appearance. It tells a tale of saving princesses, defeating typical medieval villains and collecting swords and axes, for the most part. There are a lot of surprises along the way, including a downed UFO, and some very unique levels and monsters thrown your way, keeping things fresh.

From developers Team 17, the studio behind Worms, comes the third entry to the Alien Breed trilogy of games which sees our hero, Conrad, fight off hordes of aliens once again.
Alien Breed: Descent starts off in a very TV show-like fashion, complete with a “Previously on Alien Breed” segment, presented in a comic book style with solid voice acting. It recaps the story of the first two games if you didn’t play them, or if you just need a recap of Conrad’s journey on the failing ship, the Leopold. Although the story is pretty generic alien sci-fi fare, it is set up nicely before dropping you in the middle of a chaotic journey as a disintegrating ‘Leopold’ plunges through the atmosphere towards a planet, while being overrun by aliens.

A little boy wakes up in a forest. Who is he? Why is he here? How did he get here? What should he do here? LIMBO asks all these questions without providing an answer.
Alongside Braid, LIMBO is the poster-child in the modern “Are games art?” debate. Presenting a surreal world in a minimalistic black and white art style, it leaves everything open to interpretation. The game flows from one area to the next seamlessly with no tempo breaking loading screens or actual indication of your progress. You will find yourself playing this late into the night as you push on discovering the world of LIMBO without realizing it.
