We all love Portal 2. And we all love Skyrim too (see what I did there?). Apparently these games love each other as well as Bethesda and Valve have teamed up to create a mod for Skyrim that includes a little character from Portal 2.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim did not have any mod tools when it launched, yet the amount of mods that became available almost immediately was frightening. From new outfits to whole new areas and obviously multiple retexturing projects.
Microsoft decided to retire its amazing Flight Simulator series a few years back and the entire ‘Aces’ development squad was let go, but the rabid community wrote petitions and spam and who knows what else to convince Microsoft that there is still a market for a proper flight simulator without guns.
Microsoft Flight is the new version of this simulator, but it comes with a twist: It’s now a free to play game, with regions available for sale.
Last week we tried a new feature called ‘Guess the Game’ where you, our wise and well gamed readers, are presented with two screenshots.
The first screenshot is of a classic game that really tests your knowledge of gaming from times past. The second is a cropping of a more recent news article on El33tonline, to test just how much attention you are paying when trawling around the site for your gaming fix.
It is no secret that I quite adore The Sims. Yes, I groan every time a new expansion is released, but I have to keep up the appearance of a serious games reviewer. And The Sims just does not bode well for a gamer of my caliber.
But the problem with that is the fact that The Sims are simply too addictive to overlook. And if you look at the sales figures for The Sims I can take comfort in knowing I am most certainly not alone in this!

If you have to sum up Saints Row: The Third in one word it has to be ‘crazy.’ With the amount of weird and wonderful activities and characters it was hard to imagine that it could get any weirder. The weirdest of them all was the cat-like Professor Genki, and when you hear that the new downloadable content is called Genkibowl VII you know things are about to get pushed up a notch or two.

Battlefield 3 is by far the most fun I have had online since I discovered online gaming. What makes it so good for me has to be the squad system where smaller squads fight in the same big team towards the bigger goal.
Everyone who has played some Battlefield 3 online has immediately been hooked. Apart from Oliver who has owned the game for more than a week and is yet to play a game with me. I figure he is avoiding the addictive nature of this online phenomenon. Don’t worry OL, stick with me and I will look after you.

This week we stray a little bit from our previous PC freebies. Not because the PC does not have more great free games, but because a free game on a console is such a rarity and deserves some attention. Doritos Crash Course is one such gem, and unlike a lot of other free games, this one is actually rather good.
Some of our readers have been with us since the very beginning. Some of you have been with gaming for even longer. Others of you are brand new to this gaming thing, and need a bit of an education when it comes to the older games. This weekly feature will pit your wits against your memory as you remember the good times of yore, and the bad time of course.
I noticed that all three previous Friday Fr33bies started with the letter C. In fear of making it look like I am going alphabetically down a list I downloaded from the internet, I jumped a few down to M.
My Dear Boss is another classic game hosted by Armor Games. These guys are like poison on a Friday, and no work can be done while access to them is available!
Asura’s Wrath is a game unlike any other I have played. In this time of sequels upon sequels upon clones of sequels, that sure is saying something. But will this originality mean success or failure in a world where the familiar often wins out over the new?
Asura is angry. The gods killed his wife, kidnapped his daughter and assassinated the emperor. Asura is banished from Earth and then awakened from a 12 millennia hibernation. And now it is time for payback.

The world has seen the last of the polar ice caps, global warming has raised the sea-level by a few meters and the world map looks completely different. Huge corporations have taken over the world and everything has been reduced to a race for making the biggest buck. This is the world of Anno 2070, a look into our future.
Even though Anno 2070 is a real-time strategy game you should be warned that this isn’t your StarCraft 2 or Command and Conquer RTS with lots of units and lots of action. Yes, you have combat in Anno 2070, but this game is for the budding economist.

I am not a big fan of scary games. I have played my fair share to know that the cerebral function of self-preservation does not require poop in my pants. In fact, it functions much better without. I do enjoy good games, however, be they scary or not. For that reason I loved Dead Space and Alan Wake with the same passion as other, less scary games such as The Sims 3. OK, that’s a bad example. Some of my Sims are scary as hell!

When big names collaborate it often turns out to be more hype than it’s worth, but when one of the world’s best comic book artists, Todd McFarlane, comes together with one of the world’s best fantasy writers in the form of R.A. Salvatore and one of the world’s best RPG game designers, Ken Rolston (the man behind The Elder Scrolls III and IV), then you better sit up and take notice.
The result of this amazing get-together is more than just a few embarrassing photos on Facebook. These guys have all contributed their strongest work to make the best game they can possibly make.
This game is Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

The previous two entries in the Oltman’s Friday Freebies were simplicity personified. Cut some ropes, and do some jumps. How hard can it be? But that does not mean all free games are simple.
This week’s entry, Corporation Inc., reminds me a lot of the old SimTower game. The basic idea is to create a corporate tower building with different floors and employees all earning you money!
