[Update]
And they’ve done it! Within hours of setting up a Kickstarter project Double Fine has reached its target of $400 000 to help fund Double Fine Adventure - and cash is still pouring in!

[End of update]
Tim Schafer and Double Fine Productions have taken a leap of faith and asked the gaming community (and the world at large) to fund a new development project, and by the looks of things, the studio’s faith is very well placed!
Using crowd-sourced funding site Kickstarter, Double Fine recently appealed to the community to ask for $400 000 to aid the development of a project called ‘Double Fine Adventures,’ a new adventure game to be helmed by masters of the genre Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert.
After only a few hours, the community has pledged almost $300 000 with nearly 6000 backers!
That number is going up rapidly and as news spreads, there’s little doubt that Double Fine will hit that $400 000 target by the end of today. Perhaps the team should have asked for more…
What’s even more exciting about the project is that the entire development process will be documented with regular updates and videos going up online, while backers will be able to contribute and comment on the process as it happens!
Below, you can watch Tim Schafer in Double Fine’s hilarious Kickstarter video, but also be sure to visit the company’s project page and see what it’s all about. Maybe even contribute a few dollars?

Comments:
I hope its a game in the same style as Full Throttle. He is a legend and I'm so happy they getting the support for the community. Looking forward to seeing more on this.
I've pledged $15 to the project, glad to support things like this.
It doesn't matter that they didn't ask for more, the project will receive all the funding pledged to it, it just needs to get over the required $400k or no funds change hands at all.
