Motorstorm RC is revving onto PSN in the very near future and will be playable on both PS3 and PS Vita. A single purchase will net you both versions of the game although there’s no Cross Play functionality to speak of at this point.
There are currently plenty of misconceptions about what kind of multiplayer modes Motorstorm RC will support. Game director Paul Rustchynsky was kind enough to answer some of my questions on Twitter and confirmed that asynchronous multiplayer will be the only multiplayer mode supported for the PS Vita version, while the PS3 iteration will also feature 4-player split-screen races.
Asynchronous multiplayer basically means racing against your friends’ ghost data. You’ll be informed when one of your friends has beaten your time and will be given the opportunity to play that track in an attempt to best his record.
Paul said that features such as Ad Hoc support for the PS Vita version were left out due to time constraints and the small size of his team (15 people).
