Homefront Ultimate Edition announced and dated for Europe

Following the original release of 2011’s Homefront, THQ has announced plans to release an ‘Ultimate Edition’ version of the military-themed first-person shooter here in 2012.

Homefront Ultimate Edition Box Art

Homefront Ultimate Edition is due to be released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in Europe on March 23rd and will include all previously released downloadable content on the disc, including the map pack ‘The Rock’ and ‘Fire Sale’ as well as the 870 Express Shotgun.

Homefront Ultimate Edition will sell for a suggested retail price of military-themed first-person shooter, but if you’re not convinced the game and it’s unique, addictive multiplayer is worth your hard-earned, then you can read El33tonline’s review and look over our previous coverage of the game to make up your mind all over again.

Were you a fan of the original Homefront? Then good news for you! Crytek has picked up development duties for Homefront 2 with an expected release date of 2013 for the game.

I'm uber excited for Homefront 2! :D As for the first one, the Ultimate Edition looks like a good deal but I'm afraid no one really plays Homefront online anymore, so I'll probably give it a pass :(

Wasn't this game p00? Why release an ultimate edition for a p00 game?

The singleplayer portion of the game was very short and ended just as it was getting interesting. Kaos did some cool stuff with the story but gameplay was... lacking.

The multiplayer was pretty addictive but support was underwhelming at launch. I tried to get into games for two weeks after but struggled, but the reason I kept on trying was because when I got in I played for hours without realising. Fun multiplayer, so I'm looking forward to seeing what Crytek can do with it to round out the package.

I actually enjoyed this game very much, I might get this for the Xbox 360 and give the MP a go. Hopefully Crytek doesn't make it a Crysis lookalike and keep to the story of the first game....

I'm pretty sure nobody is going to be tempted to rebuy the Ultimate edition of the game. The game tried to take on Call of Duty and Battlefield and fell far short. All THQ have done is add some (largely useless) bundled content to the greatest hits / platinum (budget re-release) version of the game. It might get them an extra sale or two, and it's not like it really costs them anything (slapping "Ultimate Edition" across the box art was hardly a big job).
