El33t's Question of the Day: Has a game's name ever discouraged you, or made you more interested?

El33tonline Question of the Day

There have been some incredible videogame titles in the history of the medium - names that conjure up amazing scenes in your mind or perfectly sum up the tone of that game. Names like: Shadow of the Colossus. Sins of a Solar Empire. DOOM.

Then again, there have been some terrible, unwieldy game names that do nothing to help their cause. Names like: F.E.A.R. Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman: What Did I Do to Deserve This?

Which leads us to our Question of the Day:

Has a game’s name ever discouraged you, or made you more interested?

Has a game name ever been so repugnant (or even downright murky) that you’ve been discouraged from taking a closer look? Has a game name ever been so awesome (and descriptive) that you’ve been enticed to scrape together more information?

What game names come to mind?

(If you have a Question of the Day that you would like to put to the El33tonline community, mail it to oliver[@]el33tonline.com and we’ll send it out, with credit of course!)

No game names come to mind. DOOM was the ultimate game ever. For me it depends on who is making the game and if the game looks good or not. But I'll try any game and get excited if it grabs my attention. the name is not that important.

Got some names that get me excited....MEDAL OF HONOR and BATTLEFIELD 3 and DOOM 4

Duke Nukem from day one had me hooked, then going back further, Loom was always this 'draw me in type game' and then there was the 'Myst' series that kept me busy for hours.

Yes on both accounts. A name will at least garner my attention to learn more about a game, but I'm not going to totally dismiss or run out and by a game solely base on the title. For example, Lollipop Chainsaw is a great, unique name that catches your eye and at least makes you want to find out more. Something like the ads I see here on this site for Binary Domain and Syndicate do nothing to spark my imagination and make me more interested. The sound drab and boring.

Well no, not really either way for me. Although I do remember once loooong ago I used my dad's phone to enter a competition to win Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, and when my dad got a message informing him that I WON, he deleted it cause he thought it was some devil stuffs :( lol, I ended up buying it xD
