Today’s Question of the Day is very simple, in concept, but may require further thought in order to provide an informed, researched opinion:
Will you be getting a PS Vita this month?
We don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Sony’s next handheld gaming device is due for release in this, the second month of 2012, in most parts of the world not known as ‘Japan.’
On February 22nd, the PS Vita will launch into store shelves along with a very healthy line-up of launch titles, most (if not all) of which take advantage of the handheld’s front and rear touch-based input capabilities, as well as the amazing social connectivity functions that aim to bring gamers together in awesome new ways.
Also: That screen is brilliantly bright and sharp!
So do you plan on getting a PS Vita this month? If so, which version of the console are you getting, the WiFi or 3G? If you’re not keen on setting your hands on a PS Vita in February, are you planning on getting one later this year?
Let us know your thoughts on the PS Vita!

Comments:
I won't be picking one up a launch. It sounds like a great piece of hardware, but considering the amount of use I got out of my PSP I think it would be a bit of a waste of money for me.
I might pick up one at a later stage due to my love of things which are new and shiny, but right now, if I'm going to buy a piece of hardware I'm not going to use I might as well buy a PS3.
Nope, 3DS is enough for me thanks.
nope dont see the point
I would love one, but will only get it later this year, got some running expenses to tend to for the comrades. but after that I'll have a look at getting this. love my PSP and this is a perfect upgrade to it. Also need to get a 3DS. I want all the consoles.....
Yes, I'll be getting one on the day of release. I already have the cash on a Game giftcard, so all I need to stump up for is a memory card and Uncharted. It's proving an expensive month after just purchasing an Evo; it looks like I'll be living like a student for a while now. :-S
@jGLZA
Playing Devil's Advocate here, but...

;-)
Off topic, but what sort of Evo did you buy, Tony? A Mitsubishi Evo?
@Graeme
Yes, an Evo VIII MR FQ-340 (stage 1 modified to 412BHP).

@Tony Awesome! Not a lot of Evos in the country.
There still isn't mate! I'm a UK resident. ;-)
Dang, that's harsh Tony... but very clever!
If gamers can afford it, the PS Vita is an excellent piece of kit, but the problem as some of us have realised is its usefulness. Do we really, really need a handheld gaming device (or another handheld gaming device)? At the moment, similar experiences are offered on home consoles so if you're not moving about very often (public transport, for example) then is there a great need for handheld gaming?
Being in the UK, Tony, do you see lots of people carrying around a 3DS/DS or PSP? Or playing on their smart phones?
I see a lot of people on their smartphones (not necessarily gaming), and generally it's just kids that walk around using (3)DS's in the UK. I guess I'm just a gadget man and have to have the latest technology: I even bought a PSP Go for goodness sake!
A PSP Go?! There's no helping you Tony, you're beyond our powers of assistance. Good luck.
;)
But for serious, thanks for the feedback - it's mostly the same here in SA, but it's a rare occasion that we see a dedicated gaming handheld out in the wild. I've seen a couple 3/DS's at the airport a couple times, but that's it.
That's okay. I live in the UK but el33tonline is my number one stop for gaming news.
^
Could that sound any more like a soundbyte? :-D
soundbite even!
Thanks for the hot quote, Tony - we do collect them for future uses!

Your imaginary cheque is in the slowest snail mail imaginable... just don't cash it until February 28th, 2014, thanks ;)
i'd say my principal reason for wanting to own a 3ds and ps vita is so i don't miss out on any great games that are exclusives. something like super mario 3d land, resident evil: revelations, kingdom hearts 3d or gravity rush. the ports or remakes don't interest me as much. it would be nice if great original games on 3ds and psv eventually were ported to wiiware/psn. this does occasionally happen with games like ace attorney and mgs: peace walker, although i'm still waiting for the hd version of crisis core: final fantasy vii on psn!(-:
i also enjoy just lying in bed and being able to enjoy a game as if i was under the covers with a good book. obviously the additional input features which the 3ds and psv sport are also cool. i'm looking forward to watching movies on ps vita via remote play and using it as a controller in future ps3 titles.
Definitely, that's an excellent reason to own the platforms, but it's an expensive way to experience a handful of great games - I'm waiting on the 3DS to get at least five games I'm really interested in. It's up to three at the moment (plus one downloadable title).
I'll definitely be getting one - can't wait to try this awesome Vita line-up out. Little Deviants, Uncharted and more are looking very tantalizing!
I won't be getting one at launch cause A) I'm broke and B) I'm also waiting for more games that interest me to come out ;) that doesn't mean I don't want one, in fact I REALLY really want one ... But I'm just gonna have to wait is all :/
I'm getting the first edition preorder bundle. 2 Wednesdays to go, I can't wait!!!
Got my pre-order in...just waiting for the day to drop!
