If you’re looking forward to the release of Darksiders II as much as we are, then this news is going to be of great interest to you!
THQ and the Random House Publishing Group have announced that an original novel set in the rich Darksiders universe is due for release in May this year, and in time for the launch of Darksiders II!
Written by author Ari Marmell (The Conqueror’s Shadow, The Warlord’s Legacy, The Goblin Corps, Agents of Artifice), the book is called Darksiders: The Abomination Vault and covers events taking place millennia before those of the first game in the series. A world bible for the Darksiders universe is also said to be in the works at Random House.
Here’s the setup for Darksiders: The Abomination Vault:
“The Horsemen of the Apocalypse (beings charged with maintaining the Balance between the forces of Heaven and Hell) have uncovered a plot to resurrect ancient weapons of unimaginable power.
“Death, with the help of his compatriot War, must track down and neutralize the mysterious individuals behind the scheme before the entire universe is plunged into a devastating conflict.”
Sounds cool to me!
Writing on his personal blog, author Marmell said:
“This book was an absolute blast to write. It’s easily the most cinematic/action-oriented of my books thus far, and I’ve tried to make sure it’s accessible even to people who aren’t familiar with the games. I really hope you guys have as much fun with this as I did.”

this would be awesome, I will get this when it comes out. I really want to play Darksiders 1 and 2. thanks for this awesome news. and did I mention you guys have an awesome site and I'm stuck on it? well I am, if you haven't noticed
Haha, thanks POItjie!
Darksiders has a fantastic universe and I'm sure there are many more stories to be told within the fiction to flesh out that universe - I'll be picking up this book for sure, hopefully I can finish reading it before Darksiders II is out!
For some reason my Darksiders came bundled with a comic called Darksiders: The Graphic Novel. If the Darksiders II comic is anywhere near as awesome, we're in for a treat! :D
