El33t's Pre-W33kend Post: Dreaming of a Vita launch but living on the Battlefield

It’s time once again to put a bow on the week and sign off of El33tonline, at least for a little while. It’s been a hectic week and we’re getting a little dozy right about now.

This weekend (and tonight even) is filled with great gaming delights so read on below to see what the team at El33tonline will be up to over the next two days, but don’t hesitate to let us know what you’ll be busy with either:

“The weekend may be on the horizon but I’m casting my gaze beyond, to a land of milk and honey where handhelds having two analog sticks and 960x544, 5-inch OLED screens are within easy reach. I’m alluding to Wednesday folks - the worldwide launch of PS Vita.

Until that day sidles up beside me I’ll be occupying my spare time with finishing off Catherine and playing some Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. They’re both brilliant experiences aimed at gamers who don’t mind digesting a few verbose cut-scenes every so often.

I hope you all have a blast over the weekend!”

“This weekend I’m due for an appointment in court, more specifically, a tennis court with Grand Slam Tennis 2. I’ll be climbing the world rankings and trying to get to grips with the new control system dubbed Total Racquet Control. It’s been welcome change so far and quite enjoyable. Apart from making a racket or racquet all weekend long, I’ll most likely be enjoying some downtime and taking it easy.”

“Looking forward to a quieter weekend with some time for disciplined studying, friends, family, and games! Actually, it’s not sounding all that quiet after all …

After my self-imposed exile from the Battlefield, I should hopefully make an appearance tonight to improve my BF3 stats now that Oltman’s scared me with those figures he’s posted. Had I known I was being watched I’d have been performing a whole lot better rather than stuffing about!

BioShock is nearly finished (and I’m almost back to where I left off… Dang, I was SO close to the end last time) and then I’ll give Binary Domain an impression (but I don’t usually do impressions …).

Saturday afternoon will be a groovy pizza, cream soda, and nerd fest - can’t wait! I probably won’t have a cream soda but I felt the peer pressure to rave about DBNgamers and all the food items being promoted. Hopefully see some of you nerds there but alas, my wife and daughter have chickened out so I’ll be representing on my own…”

  • Name: “Baas” Oltman Botha
  • Position: Sitting, mostly
  • Job Description: A job is a place where you work all day and night and don’t get any recognition for the effort.
  • E-mail: Just before F-mail, but after D-mail.
  • Likes: I like to play video games, especially Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Even now that the review is done i cannot stop playing it. So this weekend I will probably get more of that RPG action. The War is also still raging heavily and I am switching sides from Battlefield 3 to Modern Warfare 3, but only for this weekend while it is free. Join me. If you dare!
  • Dislikes: Monday mornings.

Jumble jumble!

What do I want to play this weekend? Gotham City Impostors. The Mass Effect 3 demo’s singleplayer and multiplayer bits, too. The thing is, I’m afraid I’m going to have much more success in the latter than the former as matchmaking and server authentication for Monolith’s game is still very shaky indeed, hence no review of it on El33tonline so far.

I will, however, be attending the third DBNGamers meet-up tomorrow for a few slices of zah - if you’re in Durban, come on down to Pizzetta Pizzaria and say hi!

Oh yes, and tonight I’ll be getting destroyed in Battlefield 3 during this evening’s Battlefield Friday - send your condolences now.

Have a great weekend p33ps!”

“El33t Towers has been buzzing with activity this week and as a result I’ve been left in quite a daze after all of the awesome news, reviews, previews, editorials and competitions the team has been working hard on to share with you.

Perhaps it’s quite apt then that I’m looking forward to sitting down and enjoying some more time with Demon Hunter Bryce in NeverDead. There’s just something intensely satisfying about a character being able to lose limbs and roll around as a head. The psychologists would have something to say about my enjoyment of this title I’m sure, but then again no gamer would escape their scrutiny! Some more Uncharted 3 is also on the cards.

Last week I was plagued by a few bugs again (watch this space, there could be a full bug report coming soon), so I hope to get some quality time with Drake in and enjoy the new co-op mission this weekend. And I am also going to invest in my own copy of Gears of War 3 so I don’t have to tag in as Numphie anymore. I will have to start from scratch though, so please go easy on me if you see me running madly away from Lancers and Shotguns this coming Wednesday.

Lastly I will be gearing up to attend the PS Vita launch in Johannesburg next week, it’s going to be awesome so look out for coverage live from the event to see what’s hot and happening in the handheld scene.

As always, we’re cooking up some awesome new competitions and reviews for you p33ps, so keep El33tonline close and you’re bound to have a good time.”
