SEGA has recently gone and confirmed rumours that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II is in the works and readying for release across consoles and mobile devices this year.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II continues on from the release of 2010’s 2D platformer, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I, and (if the below-appearing teaser trailer is to be believed) will include appearances by Sonic’s faithful sidekick, Tails, as well as rival, Knuckles.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II is said to feature “all-new character animations and a completely reworked physics engine” which will come as a relief for players of Episode I, while new areas, challenges and story are also promised.
Senior Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA of America, Haruki Satomi said:
“After twenty years in action, it’s clear that Sonic hasn’t slowed down one bit. The first entry in the Sonic 4 saga was a major success. We’ve listened to the fans and been hard at work making sure we recapture that same spirit of fun in Episode II. We hope the fans will enjoy it.”
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II is due for release in 2012 on Xbox 360 (via Xbox LIVE), PlayStation 3 (via PlayStation Network), and mobile platforms including the App Store, Android Market and Windows Phone 7.

Cool, this is good news, I still need to get Episode 1 and I really need to get Sonic generations. this is going to be fun. All sonic games are fun....ok there was this one that I didn't really enjoy that much.....was on of the latest 3D ones.....(can't remember the name). Can't wait to see more on this.
i can't wait to play this! hopefully they use the beautiful 2D graphics from sonic 4 episode 1 rather than the 3D engine from sonic generations as the former game had an amazingly pristine quality which set it apart from other PSN/XBLA platformers.
"...Sonic hasn't slowed down one bit" . . . lol that pun is so true xD come on game, release already!
