Speaking to consumer site VG247 at the Game::Business::Law Summit recently, Insomniac CEO Ted Price has confirmed that the developer will no longer work on the Resistance game franchise and will instead leave it up to other developers to continue the series.
Price’s comments to VG247 were very final:
“We won’t be making any more Resistances.”
To the point, as always.
As far as El33tonline is concerned, the last Resistance game from Insomniac, Resistance 3, was by far the best of the series and a contender for top game of 2011, so it’s a little disappointing that the franchise creators won’t be going forward with new entries.
Instead, Insomniac will focus on the studio’s upcoming four-player shooter Overstrike, while work will continue on the recently unveiled social and casual games division, Insomniac Click, which aims to create “deep worlds, rich stories, [and] accessible gameplay” in the online games space.
Speaking further on what Insomniac Click will be busying itself with and focussing on, Price said:
“Certainly over the next couple years, we’re going to see a huge evolution in visuals in social games. It’s thanks to improving technologies. It’s thanks to browsers that are getting better and more powerful. It’s thanks to development teams – core traditional game teams who are moving into the space.”
Thanks VG247 - look forward to the site’s continued talks with Price in the coming days discussing a variety of interesting topics regarding the company’s future.

Comments:
Boo Insomniac, boo! Just when you get it right you quit? Here's hoping you change your mind....
Definitely agree - any developer that picks up after Insomniac will have to go through the same graining period they did. Maybe Insomniac can help whoever works on the next Resistance to make sure it continues the quality.
Maybe Naughty Dog should give it a try or even Killzone developer Guerilla.
Haha Fullmetal, then we'll either end up with a third-person Resistance or Resistance with alien Nazis (those are what the Helghast are, right?) ;)
I felt a bit disappointed with Resistance 3's ending to be honest. They left so many things unanswered. :(
Also, if my memory serves me correctly, from back in the launch days of the PS3, Insomniac said that Resistance was going to be a trilogy. I don't understand where this whole "Continue" the series thing came from o.O Did people really expect them to continue the series after the ending of R3 ? O_o
I would love to get this series. but I had to go with the Uncharted series first. Maybe who ever picks it up can make it multiplatform.....just saying....will hopefully give this a try in the near future.
