EL33TONLINE: News archive for February, 2012
After a collection of leaked screenshots were dumped onto the ‘net yesterday, supposedly showcasing areas from id Software’s still in-development DOOM 4 project, a brand new selection of images have appeared with more areas from the game on show.
Just to add credence to the idea that these screenshots are from the next DOOM game, some of the images were labelled ‘before hell wave’ while a number of the screens included renders of models that looked decidedly hellish in nature, with buildings being ‘eaten’ and ‘nests’ of goop coagulating in corners.
We haven’t included the renders, but here are a batch of new screenshots from… a game that’s being made… somewhere:
The new free-to-play flight simulator without guns, Microsoft Flight, has launched!
Uncharted: Golden Abyss is the PS Vita launch title with the highest production values and greatest reputation to uphold. The three Uncharted titles on PlayStation 3 are all award-winning, universally appreciated games so developer Bend Studio certainly had a mountain to climb trying to emulate Naughty Dog’s success with the first portable entry in the series.

Microsoft made the ice cool announcement yesterday that a glossy white Xbox 360 Kinect family bundle has already gone on sale in the US and would become available very soon around the world.
Today, Xbox 360 South Africa has confirmed that the country will also be receiving this limited edition bundle with price and release date information in tow, while everybody’s favourite Xbox frontman Major Nelson has released an excellent video overview of the bundle, too.
Now available to purchase and download on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, Nexuiz from THQ and developer IllFonic is a brand new arena-style first-person shooter in the same lineage as Quake 3: Arena, but with the flair and visuals of Unreal Tournament, with just a hint of Tribes thrown in for good measure.
Is this a bad combination? We’re going to go ahead and say: No. Emphatically, no.
Let’s find out about Nexuiz with an official description and pricing information, a collection of screenshots and a raucous launch trailer:
EA has revealed that the first downloadable content pack for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will be available next month.
Battlefield 3 Friday was pure awesomeness. 20:15 arrived and it started off with a bang as Smuroh, Fullmetal MDK and I (POItjie) took on who everyone came our way. All you could hear over Xbox LIVE was, “Sniper on the left,” “Tank on the right,” “I need health” and my favourite: “I’m down, I’m down, thanks for the revive.”
Thanks to Famitsu we have learnt that we can look forward to a demo for Dragon’s Dogma. Next up in the Capcom news from Famitsu is that the first wave of downloadable content for Asura’s Wrath will be coming out in March.
According to the latest issue of Famitsu, Capcom plans to release a demo for Dragon’s Dogma.
Dragon’s Dogma is the upcoming open-world RPG from Capcom. The game is now scheduled to release on the Xbox 360 and PS3 on the 22nd of May in North America and 25th of May in Europe and the UK.
So, because we didn’t get a Question of the Day up yesterday, we’re going to make this one extra juicy, but be warned: We’re looking for intelligent and well-constructed discussion. Vitriol must be left at the door!

Lumines: Puzzle Fusion, a game created by the mind of the inimitable Tetsuya Mizuguchi, was one of the first must-play PSP games. Here was a puzzle game said to be as seminal as Tetris was. I don’t know that it has achieved that kind of ubiquity, but it certainly does seem to be on most modern platforms and has even had the dubious honour of having academic papers written about it. This PS Vita version is a great iteration of the game because of its modern styling, great electronic soundtrack and bright colours. While it doesn’t really push the Vita’s capabilities to the limit, it certainly uses the OLED screen to great advantage.
