EA and Crytek have today announced that the publisher and developer pair will be bringing their original collaborative effort, the first Crysis, to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as downloadable titles over Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network respectively.
Releasing this October, a “modified and enhanced version of the award-winning singleplayer campaign from the original Crysis” will become available, “remastered for console players using Crytek’s state-of-the-art CryENGINE 3 with all new lighting, effects and other visual optimizations.”
“[O]ptimized Nanosuit controls, fine-tuned combat and full stereoscopic 3D support” are also said to feature.
For £15.99 on PSN and 1600 MS Points over Xbox LIVE, you’ll be able to download the game to experience why “critics around the world hailed Crysis” as a title that ushered in the next-generation of gaming.

Here’s the story blurb for Crysis:
“In Crysis, gamers will travel to 2019 where a team of US scientists makes a frightening discovery on an island in the South China Sea. All contact with the team is lost when the North Korean Government quickly seals off the area.
“The United States responds by dispatching an elite team of Delta Force Operators to recon the situation. As tension rises between the two nations, a massive alien ship reveals itself in the middle of the island. Now with hope rapidly fading, the US and North Koreans must join forces to battle the alien menace, fighting epic battles through stunning, photorealistic tropical jungles and frozen landscapes.”

cool - i'll definitely be interested in this once it's out! i wonder how the graphics on consoles will stack up to the pc version? i'm still waiting for them to release hd remasters of max payne 1 and 2 on psn...
I wonder how big the download will be? Looks great thou.
It's got to be bigger than the 2GB limit that they use for XBLA. I'm assuming it will be a straight-to-Games-On-Demand title like the upcoming Resident Evil remakes.
I'm quite keen for this, a lot of people say that Crysis 1 is better than Crysis 2, but I never had the chance to try it because of my aversion to high-end PC gaming (cost and effort).
1600MSP is cheap, to, only about R150 at current exchange rates, so the XBox version works out a little cheaper than the PSN one which would be about R185.
Wow, always wanted to play this...I don't think the PC I have now can run this game :P
