Earlier this month EA and Crytek announced that they would be bringing Crysis to Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network in October.
EA has since revealed that the exact release date for this award-winning first-person shooter will be October 4th (next week Tuesday). PSN users from PAL territories will have to wait an extra day for it to appear on the PlayStation Store due to it only being updated on a Wednesday.
The console ports of Crysis will only include the single-player campaign from the PC version, although certain improvements and additional features have been added. These include true stereoscopic 3D, new lighting and effects utilising CryEngine 3, and improved Nanosuit controls taken from Crysis 2.
Crysis will cost you £15.99 on PSN and 1600 Microsoft Points on XBL.

Would love to play the game since I never had a PC that was close to being able to run it :P But 1600msp is a bit steep, will have to see.
1600MSP a bit steep? This isn't a Live Arcade game, it's Crysis on Games on Demand, and a slightly improved version of Crysis at that (although shorn of multiplayer). They could have released it as a boxed product for R400+ quite easily (like Halo: Anniversary), so I think it's pretty attractively priced.
just bring it on baby!!! woooa!!!
i've just seen now that it's releasing on the same day as rage in north america. pretty darn crazy if you ask me!
crazy Tom? ITS ROCK N ROLL CRAZY!!! WOOOAA!!!
Same day as Rage isn't great, but better up against Rage than too close to BF3. I'm also not sure what the sale profile of these download-only titles are like, I get the feeling that they won't be all about the day 1 surge, because there won't be any pre-orders or anything like that, so maybe the bulk of the sales will be drawn out over two or three weeks, so launching on the same day as another title won't be such a big deal.
Also wonder how much a lack of physical presence will hurt general awareness of the game (ie people won't walk into a games store and see copies of it). I doubt EA will spend much marketing a relatively cheap title.
I don't think RAGE and Crysis are on the same playing field (different to a level playing field) for all the reasons you point out Graeme. There's going to be a segment of gamers (hardcore, I'm guessing) who will be aware of both releases and buy according to their need, but if they're hardcore anyway they might just buy both.
I am a little surprised about the amount of awareness and marketing spend behind Burnout Crash!, another downloadable title from EA (and Criterion). While David Hasselhoff may not be the most expensive celebrity to get to star in a video series, he can't be inexpensive, either.
The relatively quick announce and release nature may well hurt Crysis, but again like you say Graeme, the sales will most probably be drawn out over weeks and even months, so EA won't be sweating initial sales too much.
