Even though gamers the world over are only just now indulging in the crushing action and emotive story in Gears of War 3 following the game’s global release yesterday, Epic Games creative director Cliff Bleszinski has already confirmed that at least one of the announced downloadable content packs for the title will include an extra slice of story to add to the already immense campaign.
This supposed DLC for Gears of War 3 won’t feature any of the game’s main characters, though. Speaking to The Telegraph concerning the potential for story-based DLC for Gears of War 3, Bleszinski said:
“I believe that DLC should be unique and cool, like Lost and the Damned, Gay Tony, Mad Moxie’s Underdome Riot. All those kind of things. DLC’s the place where you play and have fun.”
“One thing I can tell you is that you’re not going to see Marcus or Dom or Cole in [the DLC].”
Gears of War 2 enjoyed a similar DLC release when the ‘Road to Ruin’ campaign addition became available, which contained a segment of story originally cut from the final version of that game.
If you sign up for the Gears of War 3 Season Pass, you’ll be eligible to the first of the planned DLC packs for the game in November, presumed to be a collection of multiplayer maps before any further story content is released.

Took the day off yesterday, almost complete with the campaign. Should have been done with it but I ventured onto Live and could't help joining a few MP games. 4 hours later I stopped myself :D
Wow, good thing you took the day off!
I'm trying to clear up the campaign before heading online proper - the multiplayer beta was great but there are more modes, maps and 'things' to dive into! Can't wait!
Have only played Team Deathmatch so far, I prefer having finite respawning options over waiting for a few minutes for a Warzone / Execution match to finish up after you died.
Horde 2.0 and Beast Mode still lies in wait.
Horde 2.0 could not have been done better. Beast mode INSANE!!!!
Think I'll hit up some Beast Mode after I finish campaign.
Also, it was amazing to see so many locals online after the games was released. At 1am Tuesday morning there were a few hundred SA players enjoying Gears 3.
Infinite respawns in team deathmatch? I also enjoyed having only a limited number per team. ;( I'm intrigued to see how this affects the outcome of each match.
Aaaah, I need to finish that campaign soon then! You're making me antsy with this Horde and Beast mode talk! ;)
No no, I said "finite" :D Each team has 20 respawns per round.
Boing?
Ah, sorry, I thought for a minute you meant it had been changed from 'finite' to 'infinite' from the beta. Cool, I'm pleased then. ;)
