Following a recent conference held by Nintendo, fresh new details and media have been released for two upcoming 3DS games, Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7, with release dates and information on upcoming 3DS features included in the mix.
Let’s jump in, shall we?
Super Mario 3D Land
Super Mario 3D Land for the 3DS will release on November 13th in the US, November 18th in the UK and November 3rd in Japan, finally bringing the colourful 3D running, jumping and platforming antics of everybody’s favourite plumber to the handheld.
Here are some of the latest screenshots and a new trailer for Super Mario 3D Land showing something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue:

Mario Kart 7
Mario Kart 7, on the other hand, will become available on December 4th in the US, December 2nd in the UK and December 1st in Japan, which means it won’t be too long before we’re all zooming through some highly creative raceways (on land, in the air and underwater) and throwing power-ups around to ruin our opponents’ chances of winning the race.
Mario Kart can be so cruel.
It’s been revealed that up to eight players will be able to join in a single online multiplayer race via Nintendo’s WiFi connection, and you’ll be able to connect to these players online via your own 3DS friends list, similar to full console multiplayer functionality.
Gyro-sensor controls are also reported to be available in Mario Kart 7 to let you steer your kart by tilting the handheld, while a new and optional ‘first-person driving’ mode is included for some in-your-face racing action.
Two new playable characters have also been announced for Mario Kart 7 in the form of Lakitu and Metal Mario.

New 3DS Features and Details
More details have emerged regarding the 3DS hardware, too, and with the release of Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land, a new 3DS system update in November will apparently unlock the ability to record 3D video, while an upcoming StreetPass feature called ‘StreetPass Mii Plaza’ will also be introduced.
