The Tester is a free reality show exclusive to the PlayStation Network. Contestants compete in challenges which test various skills such as dexterity, creativity, communication and the ability to work in a team - attributes which a game tester needs to possess in order to be a success at their job.
Season 3 of the popular show was recently announced via the PlayStation Blog and the prize the winner takes home this time around should give any PS fanboy shivers down their spine - a “production job” at Santa Monica Studios (the Sony-owned developers behind the awesome God of War series).
The developers are, according to the PS Blog, “working on an undisclosed PlayStation 3 exclusive title” which is most likely God of War IV.
To be a part of season 3’s 12-person cast you’ll need to be a legal resident of the United States and be 21 or older. You can enter here and the deadline for your submission is 16 September. Entering is as easy as creating a profile which includes a photo and video about yourself.
No details were given regarding when season 3 is expected to air, although my guess is that it will go live on PSN before the end of the year.
If you’ve never watched The Tester before and have an interest in all things PlayStation then head on over to the North American PS Store and download season 1 and 2 to your PS3 or PSP. One of the most interesting aspects of the show is seeing some of the biggest names in video gaming appear as guest judges every episode, and you also get a sneak peek at upcoming PS3 exclusives.
If you’re lucky enough to live in the U.S. and be eligible for entry then good luck with your submission and I hope to see you showcasing the full scope of your sublime skills in The Tester: Season 3!
