The rumours swirled and reports were filed, but no official announcement had been made by either publisher 2K Games or developer Gearbox, but now today, the confirmation has arrived.
2K Games has just formerly announced that Borderlands 2 will be ready for launch sometime after April 2012 across Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms and will feature all new “characters, skills, environments, enemies, weapons and equipment” in a return visit to the planet of Pandora.
But will we see the return of Borderlands’ signature ‘millions of guns?’
The world will get its first look at Borderlands 2 in the September issue of Game Informer as well as at gamescom 2011 and PAX Prime this year, but for now you can enjoy a bit of cover art from that next issue of GI:

Comments:
Woah, this is awesome news! That new character looks mean...I hope they have another female character, Lilith kicked some serious butt in Borderlands.
That was her name - Lilith!
The Borderlands addiction continues!
"Formally" not formerly;
I'm currently busy with the first one, playing co-op. Great fun. Just not sure that I'll be wanting to go back playing Borderlands 2 after RAGE. I know it is not exactly the same kinda game, and it is very early to speculate, but the "post apocalyptic shooter/rpg segment is getting quite swamped so they'll have to do something special again to make it stand out.
