It was only earlier today, August 2nd, that the South African Police Service’s Commercial Crime Unit conducted a raid at a residential property in Parktown, Johannesburg, resulting in the confiscation of PlayStation 3 jailbreaking tools, as well as the world’s first PS3 security circumvention arrest in the world.
The raid was carried out following complaints issued by the South African Federation Against Copyright Theft (SAFACT), and was assisted by the SARS Computer Forensics Lab.
Police seized various ‘state of the art computers,’ as well as security circumvention software packages, USB devices used to jailbreak hardware, as well as fake PlayStation 2 games, original PlayStation 3 games (believed to be used as masters for pirating these games) and other documentation, all of which were found at the property in Parktown.
A suspect has been arrested in connection with the raid and will remain in custody until the first court appearance for bail is held in the Specialized Commercial Crimes Court, said to be taking place in the next few days.
This is the first PlayStation 3 security circumvention-related arrest in the world.
Jailbreak devices are used to circumvent the security features on PlayStation 3 consoles to facilitate the playing of pirated PS3 games.

Hectic! It's odd that they seized original games though. Anyway, this kind of thing is a big deterrent to piracy I'm sure.
im happy they caught him, piracy in video gaming is just totaly bad. i spend R400-R600 for a game and he gets it for under R50. plus its making business bad for game developers, and stores. that boy will now leard a nice lesson.
ooooh! can we report these guys selling backed up games on gumtree?
