This week’s Media Create software chart offers further proof that names sell games. Whether it be Zelda, Kirby, Mickey, Monster Hunter or Pokemon - an established intellectual property always has a good chance of being picked over an unknown quantity.
At the top of this week’s chart is Monster Hunter Diary: Pokapoka Felyne G on PSP. The game was developed by From Software (the company behind Demon’s Souls) and from the looks of things it’s a cartoonish take on the Monster Hunter series, featuring some of the same RPG elements which made those games so popular.
The only other new entries on the chart are Pokemon Rumble Blast at number two and Uta no Prince-Sama: Repeat at five. The latter game once again proves how many female gamers there are in Japan as it’s a title catering directly to that market by offering some virtual romance with a cast of good-looking anime guys who can also give a decent vocal performance when required.
In terms of console representation - PSP leads the pack with four titles in the top ten. Wii is in second spot with three, 3DS has two and DS has just the one game on this week’s chart.
