This time of year is awash with high profile gaming events. It’s just a couple of days until gamescom in Cologne, Germany and then mid-September will mark another frenzied Tokyo Game Show in Japan.
If you don’t possess the resources to fly around the world taking all these glorious sights and sounds (not to mention games) in, then at least you can still attend some of them from the comfort of your living room thanks to PlayStation Home.
Sony will give you the opportunity to explore a gamescom-themed space from 4pm (GMT) on August 16th. This area will be available from both the “What’s New” section of your PS3’s XMB as well as the Navigator in PlayStation Home itself.
The Sony press conference at gamescom will be streamed live into this space from 6pm onwards and should last for about an hour. If you happen to miss it fear not, because it will be repeated after the event and video edits will also eventually be added to the space.
I’m looking forward to checking out the gamescom-themed area in Home as I missed it last year. If the 2010 and 2011 E3 spaces are anything to go by, we’ll be in for a treat due to all the trailers, free items and fellow PlayStation enthusiasts within our virtual reach.
Will you be watching the Sony press conference live stream in PlayStation Home, and if so what announcements are you expecting to be made during the session?
You can find my predictions for Sony’s role at gamescom 2011 over here, and be sure to tune in to El33tonline for regular feedback from our intrepid team covering the event in Germany.
