Warner Bros. today announced a partnership with Kadokawa Games that will see the two teaming up to bring Suda 51’s Lollipop Chainsaw to western territories in 2012.
Lollipop Chainsaw is a new third-person action game being developed by Grasshopper Manufacture, the studio that recently released Shadows of the Damned. The game features a “killer heroine with a chainsaw” fighting to stop a zombie takeover and will be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
The game will feature a team of top talent, including gamemaker Goichi Suda and composer Akira Yamoaka, while Hollywood director/writer James Gunn (Super, Slither, Dawn of the Dead, Tromeo and Juliet) is slated to be in charge of storytelling.
Lollipop Chainsaw is the “un-deadly story of sweet and killer zombie hunter Juliet Starling and her quest to uncover the root of a colossal zombie outbreak. With her wickedly awesome chainsaw in hand, Juliet slices, dices and splits her way through hordes of the undead, but soon realizes the horde is only the opening act to a festival of zombie rock lords determined to kill the chainsaw wielding cheerleader.”

Awesome - another Suda51 production!
I wonder if we'll be able to glimpse Lollipop Chainsaw at gamescom this year. The announcement timing seems about right, and Warner Bros. is definitely going to be at the show. We can only hope.
