A recently surfaced trademark has revealed that a new (music?) rhythm game is in the works at the excellent Harmonix to follow up on the studio’s Rock Band and instantly popular Dance Central games.
While Harmonix is giving Rock Band a break in 2011 and is currently working on Dance Central 2, this new title will form part of the company’s drive to develop new new original concepts to spread its love of combining music with games.
According to a report on Giantbomb, the trademark calls out a game by the name of Vidrhythm, and according to Harmonix Communications Director John Drake, this is indeed a project currently in the works at Harmonix, and “it will be awesome.”
Judging by the name, this new title will include elements of video and rhythm gameplay (…), but Harmonix has always focussed its efforts on bringing the joys of music to its games – how will Vidrhythm incorporate music? Will it be another iteration on Rock Band’s note streaming gameplay, or something brand new?
