Media Create Japanese Software Sales for week ending 24th July: Rhythm Heaven blessed with divine sales

Rhythm Heaven Wii - Japanese Box Art It’s not everyday that a game sells more than 100 000 units during a single week in Japan but Rhythm Heaven managed to do just that during the last week according to Media Create’s software chart.

This is the first time the series has come to Wii, as the previous two entries were on Game Boy Advance and DS respectively. From the looks of things, Rhythm Heaven is a compilation of musical mini-games based around your adeptness at tapping buttons in time to the beat.

Sengoku Basara: Chronicle Heroes is in second position some 35 000 copies off the pace. This action game from Capcom features colourful, cool-looking characters and is currently being advertised all over the Japanese version of PlayStation Home.

Alice: Madness Returns is in ninth spot with 19 994 copies sold during its opening week. I imagine EA are somewhat disappointed with these numbers considering the Japanese typically like off-the-wall gaming experiences.

In terms of hardware representation on this week’s chart - Wii, PS3 and PSP have three titles in the top ten apiece, while DS has one.
