Battlefield 3 beta questions answered, pre-orders outpace Bad Company 2

In a new post on the official Battlefield blog, community manager zh1nt0 answers a few burning questions regarding the upcoming multiplayer beta test for EA and DICE’s massively anticipated Battlefield 3, as pre-order numbers for the game are hinted at.

First of all, zh1nt0 talks a bit about the currently-on-the-go ‘Alpha Trial’ for Battlefield 3, which is a closed, invite-only test period for the game. This is a “highly tech focused test period where the main purpose is to do a number of server related tests in preparation for game launch requiring a set amount of players online to ensure the final experience is as much fun and easy as possible.”

Are you able to get into the Alpha Trial for Battlefield 3? Yes and no. More likely no. zh1nt0 explains:

“The Alpha is a closed test and by invitation only. If you’d like to have a chance to be called upon make sure to register for our newsletter and ensure your Veteran status is up to date. We are also not giving away keys to the Alpha Trial on any of our social networking platforms.”

So how are you able to play Battlefield 3 before the game’s late October release date? Here’s zh1nt0 again:

“The Open Beta will start in September. The exact date for when Medal of Honor: Limited Edition players can join the Beta will be announced at a later date.”

“If you purchased a copy of Medal of Honor with the Battlefield 3 Beta sticker on it, you are eligible for the Beta. If you have not received the newsletter, make sure you opt in on your EA Profile to receive them. Also, if you haven´t received the newsletter and own a copy of Medal of Honor: Limited edition, you are eligible to play in the beta.”

Thanks zh1nt0!

And what about those pre-order numbers for Battlefield 3? Very strong, if recent comments by EA are anything to go by. In a recent investor report, it was revealed that pre-order numbers for Battlefield 3 are over ten times those recorded for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 in a similar timeframe – remember that Bad Company 2 went on to sell two million units on launch and has so far sold a whopping nine million copies since its release in March last year.

Thanks to strong pre-orders, look forward to a healthy (upwards of five million unit sales) launch for Battlefield 3!

Battlefield 3 will become available on October 25th in North America and October 28th in the UK and European territories. Flip through El33tonline’s previous coverage to look over our extensive collection of trailers, screenshots and information.

Have you pre-ordered Battlefield 3 yet?
