After stringing us along with trickles of screenshots and licensing announcements, 505 Games and HB Studios have together finally released a trailer for the pair’s Rugby World Cup 2011 filled to the absolute brim with crushing, hard-hitting gameplay footage.
Watch below as players leap in the air, tackle each other with reckless abandon, careen down the field and generally make life rough for one another – it’s incredibly impressive stuff:
Rugby World Cup 2011
Releasing on August 26th this year across Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (and just in time for the real thing on September 9th), Rugby World Cup 2011 is the official game of this year’s rugby tournament in New Zealand and will feature all twenty of the participating countries, giving you a chance to take your favourite team through the competition to win the illustrious Webb Ellis Cup.
You’ll also be able to take the game online via Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network for a few one-on-one matches – the first time HB Studios has incorporated such a feature into one of its rugby games.

Comments:
This looks a lot like Rugby 08.....same tackles, same breaking tackles, same animations......I hope they haven't ported Rugby 08 from PC & PS2. I really hope I'm wrong......Rugby 08 was an ok game.....back in 2008.
Aw... I thought the video looked pretty good, but I'll defer to your superior sport game knowledge here.
Dang.

After watching the Rugby Challenge gameplay trailer I'm def more excited about Rugby Challenge than Rugby World Cup 2011. Rugby Challenge looks new, fresh and exciting.
