The Summer of Arcade 2011 kicks off today with the release of Bastion on Xbox LIVE Arcade. The release schedule for the games included in this year’s promotion include From Dust, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, Fruit Ninja Kinect, Toy Soldiers: Cold War and Crimson Alliance.
Bastion, the first title from Supergiant Games, is an “original role-playing game set in a lush imaginative world, in which players must create and fight for civilization’s last refuge as a mysterious narrator marks their every move.”
Its development was first announced in September 2010 and it soon caught the eye of Warner Bros. who signed up to publish it in March this year.
Bastion features a “unique interactive narrative style and handpainted environments” in HD and challenges players to “build a new world from the broken remnants of the past.” You’ll have a huge arsenal of upgradeable weapons to help you battle the savage beasts that you meet along the way as you explore over 40 environments and discover the secrets of the Calamity, a catastrophe that caused the world to shatter into pieces.
Bastion is available on Xbox LIVE Arcade today for 1200 MS Points and will also be coming to the PC later this year.
