It’s not often that us Durbanites have an opportunity to congregate en masse at a locally-hosted gaming event. Therefore the “Xbox Masters” this coming Saturday represents a rare occasion where we can go toe-to-toe with some of best competitive gamers in Durban and see how far up (or down) the pecking order we fall.
Our friends at XboxReel will be hosting this four-game tournament at the Unreal Internet Cafe in Pavilion from 9am on Saturday 23 July. The Xbox 360 games represented at the event are FIFA 11, DiRT 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Mortal Kombat. You can choose to participate in just one of these tournaments or even try your hand at all four. The entry fee is R40 for one tournament, R75 for two, R100 for three and R125 for four.
Of course there will be plenty of prizes on offer at the event - more than R8 500’s worth in total. Expect plenty of Xbox-related goodies among these, including hardware, games and Xbox LIVE accounts.
Participants are urged to bring their own Xbox 360 wireless controllers if possible.
More information can be found on the Xbox Masters’ Facebook page.
Come support this great local initiative if you’re free on Saturday morning and would like to go up against or just socialise with some of Durban’s most hardcore Xbox 360 gamers.

Comments:
Support your local gaming events, then there will be more of them.
Well done Xboxreel, sounds like it's going to be an epic event.
Definitely!
If you can make it down (or up?) to Pavilion this Saturday, scratch this one in calendar!
It's such a rare thing to have an event like this in Durban that I will make an effort to check it out.
I wonder if I can bring my arcade stick along for the MK tournament? I suck with a regular 360 controller.
It's definitely worth asking - the organisers are asking participants to bring their own controllers, so as long as they don't deem a stick an advantage it shouldn't be a problem.
I shall be attending a friend's morning wedding - otherwise I would have been there.
Such a pity Feeding Frenzy 2 isn't on the list, or I'd have dominated ;)
