We were already envious of our fellow gamers in North America when they got a release date for the English version of Catherine (26 July) and we didn’t. To then learn that they would be getting an awesome Deluxe Edition for a mere $20 more (about R140 extra) drove up the jealousy stakes to dangerous heights. If there was ever a time to go the import route, this is it.
The “Love is Over” Deluxe Edition will be available from select retailers in the US for around $80. The amount of cool swag you get is off the charts - besides the game for your platform of choice (either PS3 or Xbox 360), you’ll receive a t-shirt which pays homage to The Legend of Zelda; Vincent’s pink polka dot boxers; a pillowcase featuring Catherine looking sultry and wanton; and a pizza box which acts as a container for all these amazing accoutrements. The box is an inside joke of sorts because it has the same logo as the bar which Vincent and his friends frequent in the game.
If you pre-order the regular or deluxe version of Catherine from participating retailers you’ll also receive a free artbook and soundtrack CD as an added bonus.
It’s very rare that a game which approximates the style and themes of an anime film is released for the Western market, and all these quirky collectibles available to fans definitely sweeten the deal even more.
Please let us know which outlet you’ll be using to import Catherine, and what kind of shipping fees our readers can expect if they decide on a similar deal.
