As promised, the fourth full outing for Gearbox Software’s Brothers in Arms series of tactical first-person shooters has been announced, but this time the franchise seems to be taking itself a little less seriously.
Or… a lot less seriously.
Previous Brothers in Arms games have dealt with heavy topics and revolved around stories of valour and sacrifice during the tragic time of World War II.
The next game in the series, Brothers in Arms Furious 4, looks to be a more irreverent title than its predecessors, and will focus on the adventures and exploits of a group of four soldiers who have banded together to hunt and kill Nazis in the most gruesome ways possible.
A lot like Quintin Tarintino’s ‘Inglourious Basterds’ movie, then?
Players will take control of one of the four characters in the game for four-player cooperative play, while using regular and experimental World War II weapons to deal maximum damage.
US director of marketing at Ubisoft Adam Novickas said of the game:
“The Brothers in Arms franchise has been renowned for its gritty direction that has dropped players into the middle of World War II. With Brothers in Arms Furious 4, Gearbox brings the action to a whole new level filled with unexpected twists and over-the-top battles that are sure to please new players and fans alike.”
Brothers in Arms Furious 4 is due for release during the first half of 2012, across PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

Comments:
aw man! as good as this may be (i am thinking Borderlands in Europe during WW2...) i seriously doubt that they will get any use out of the Brothers in Arms name... BIA has always been about tactical co-operation with suppressing fire and flanking techniques. fans of BIA will not necessarily like Furious 4. in fact the Brothers in Arms name might actually cost them a few sales... in my humble opinion :)
