Update Added new screenshots below. End of Update
Microsoft has just wrapped up their E3 press conference, a keynote that showcased blockbuster titles and innovative new features coming to the Xbox 360 soon.
One of these blockbuster titles was the new Tomb Raider, a reboot that finds series protagonist Lara Croft embarking on her very first adventure after a storm destroys the boat she was travelling on, and leaves her stranded on an unknown beach in an unknown part of the world, left on her own to survive in a brutal new world against unknown challenges… and enemies.
Crystal Dynamics was on hand at the media briefing to demonstrate a beginning section of Tomb Raider. The developer is wanting to create a “true origins story,” a story about “how an ambitious 21 year old named Lara Croft becomes a hardened Tomb Raider through a journey of intense and visceral survival.”
The gameplay demo shows Lara being held captive on a mysterious island, trying to escape from an unknown pursuer through a series of underground tunnels. It shows a gritty realism as her survival instincts kick in. It’s a new vision for Tomb Raider, one that is said to show more of the “open environments, survival exploration and visceral combat experience.”
You can watch the incredibly awesome gameplay demo below, and keep your dial tuned to El33tonline because Crystal Dynamics promised to reveal new screenshots soon for Tomb Raider, which will be released in Fall 2012.
